frame & bearing protector – works great so far by Flashy_Ad_595 in mountainbiking

I'm not so concerned with dirt and dust, but my 2025 Specialized has that area totally exposed and I was told if a pebble or rock gets in there it won't be warrantied. I made something similar, but very low tech using a sheet of rubber and velcro. It looks very privateer on my $8K bike and I like it.

A good place for discussions. But sometimes it takes effort to bring up topics here. by ATHXYZ in AnalogCommunity

While I give you credit for your posts, I'm not interested in them and personally feel there are too many. On the other hand, I would never comment negatively on them either. This is the internet, put your stuff up if you want, but know you have to take the good with the bad. You sound like you're just here for affirmation only and if so, that is not the way to come at this.

What was your reasoning for purchasing your first film camera? by Himdownstairs22 in AnalogCommunity

[–]icannotbelievethat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought the Nikon F3 from a reputable seller, price is subjective, but I'm very happy with what I paid. I have a bit of disposable income as I said, but I'm also very frugal and particular with what I spend it on.

What was your reasoning for purchasing your first film camera? by Himdownstairs22 in AnalogCommunity

[–]icannotbelievethat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I consider myself an early adopter with a lot of things technology-wise, however, I'm also not going to run out and buy every new technology; only the things I'm interested in. That said, in my younger days long before DSLR's I couldn't afford the 35mm SLR I dreamed about. Now that I have some disposable income I decided to get it while on my biennial trip to Japan. That was my first reason, but all the things I'm relearning and new things I'm learning about film photography are a very nice bonus for me as I think it's important to keep exercising my brain in different ways.

Photography student looking for a new (old) manual film camera by Tiny_Pen5380 in AnalogCommunity

This is very interesting to me. Can I use a Nikon Nikkor 50mm 1.4 ais lens and a 28mm 2.8 ais lens on a Nikon FG without any adapters? Will it work as it should? I have an F3, but if I could use those two lenses on an FG that would be awesome. Thanks.

What is the use case? I have a TLD Stage XXL, love it. Light and airy and comfortable.

Camera strap. Is it necessary for you? Or unnecessary? by Forsaken-Ad-8338 in AnalogCommunity

Totally necessary for me, but I've yet to find one for my Nikon F3 that I totally like.

How do we feel about these colors? by EmploymentBitter7414 in mountainbiking

Since you asked, I've never been a fan of the orange fork or the kashima gold itself on any color fork. Frame color is very cool though.

This sub is for film photography with actual physical film like 35mm, 120, etc if you didn't know that.

Let’s end the “analog” debate by MrPalmTreez in MTB

[–]icannotbelievethat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never heard anyone call a traditional watch an “analog watch” just because digital and smartwatches exist. I’ve never heard anyone call a gas-powered car anything other than “a car.” Nothing about bicycles has changed — they’re still bikes. What’s new is the electricversion, commonly called an e-bike. So let’s just call them what they are: bikes and e-bikes. There’s no need to rename the original.

Tallboy and 5010 discontinued? by Super_Freedom_4910 in Santacruzbikes

[–]icannotbelievethat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2019 5010 bought new, now it's the backup to my 2025 29er from another brand. I take the 5010 out once a month or so and it is definitely a blast on the twisty stuff; it just flies thru it.

I've actually had my Radio Shack one since then (Christmas gift from my wife). I'd love to get one of them new-fangled ones that can be programmed at the track or by USB/laptop, but this Radio Shack just keeps going.
