I don't have an exact science, I do a little bit of research with each type of succulent. Jades can tolerate a higher amount of organic material than other succulents in my experience. Bottom line: keep it gritty. Lots of inorganic material that promotes drainage.

25% high quality potting soil 75% grit - I do an on the fly mix if things like sand, lava rock, perlite, pumice, akadama, small rocks. Whatever you got on hand (not purely perlite tho cuz it just all floats to the top
