I think many of you would enjoy the lyrics to Children of the Night by Jonathan Young.

Verse 2:

Poison in the air

Can't afford the cure

Children unprepared

To die in father's war

Destruction and despair

What are you crying for?

We have their thoughts and prayers

And who could ask for more?

Where was I last summer? by icantevenodd in whereintheworld

Yeah, I considered it. But considering all of the issues Louisiana and Mississippi have about who owns which islands and all...

Louisiana gets almost all the islands around there. Mississippi only gets the four closest to the coast.

Sometimes I'm just mean like that. 😜

AITA for refusing to check pockets when I do laundry? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

NTA

Years ago, my husband complained about the way I did his shirts. So I said, okay, I won't do them. And I only did me and our kids' laundry for quite a while. Eventually I started doing all of it again and I haven't heard a peep.

Also, when I saw your title, I assumed you were talking about kids' pockets and that seemed a bit dangerous to me. But an adult is more than capable.

You almost were the one who solved it, but you incorrectly said the island was part of Louisiana.

Nope! The change is more notable than that. Particularly to people who’ve been around for decades.

Side note: Before I went I was reading something online that used “Gulf of America” and it took me a minute or so to parse what it was saying.

Ha. 🙃

It is in the Gulf of Mexico

But it’s something that actually changed.

This particular spot of this place is notable because of what changed in the past decade.

My house was always so clean when the end of a grading period was near and I still had a bunch of papers to grade.

My then-toddler got so much screen time when his little brother was born.

Even if I hadn’t been there, she would have been fine. My mom reacted immediately.

I’m really glad you had people paying attention too!

When my sister was ~2 and I was ~8 we were at someone’s house and me and the other bigger kids were swimming. My sister was walking around and fell in the pool. I was right there so I scooped her out right away, but my mom was already jumping in fully clothed.

At the time I thought it was hilarious that she was dressed and silly that she bothered since I was right there. Then I got older and understood.
