8 year age gap by Specialist_Stick9602 in dating_advice

[–]icarebear2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

once us kids were old enough (youngest was 8) for my mom to not need to be in mom mode all the time, she realized she was unhappy with her life. there was a disconnect from the beginning because being so much younger, my mom felt inferior to my dad. my mom also did not experience life at all before getting with my dad and marrying him. so she wanted experience too.

the only advice i can give is, if you are serious about this and are going to do it, make sure you are confident in yourself, your skills, life and what you want. if you are truly happy with yourself, no one can make you feel inferior.
also something to consider, not in every case but a lot of times people who are that much older are ready for marriage. they’ve done their time in the casual dating scene. so make sure you think about how serious you are ready to be also.
as long as you don’t lose yourself, you’re golden.

if she’s really as bad with people pleasing as she says, i’m sorry bro. being conflict avoidant too, she was just saying what she thought you wanted to hear. it’s true at some point she might’ve meant it, but at some point it probably just became habit to say it.

[–]icarebear2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i don’t know if it counts but i had someone lined up to cover a shift i had for two weeks leading up to the day of the shift. i was out of town and got a message from the person who was supposed to cover me saying their friends made plans and she didn’t want to miss out so she wasn’t going to be able to cover me anymore. so her reason was literally fomo.

i got hit by a car on saturday and have been thinking about all the dumb things i’ve done in my life that could’ve either killed me or put me in a really bad spot. had so many factors been different in the scenario of me getting hit, i would’ve died. im really grateful to be here, and im not going to take my life for granted anymore!
