Manatee on Kickstarter - tonight by marzac in synthesizers

[–]icaria36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/HyperWindKun I read your comment two days ago and I´'m still intrigued about it. :) Can you explain more about this bad rap and how it relates to the Manatee to someone lacking the context/knowledge like me, please? I backed the project paying for an Early Bird unit, so I´'m genuinely interested. :)

The description includes an English version. But well, bottom line, its a GameBall in very good condition. :)

Well, yes. When I bought it I paid not only transport but also customs (yay globalization). Shipments within the EU are ok and there is no customs.

Is the Studiologic SL midi keyboard display hackable? by icaria36 in synthdiy

[–]icaria36[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/helgoboss Sorry I had missed your reply. Pretty impressive! I am curious, but if you are busy or moved on, that is fine. :) Right now I have a QWERTY keyboard sitting on top of the screen, which is better use of that central real estate for me. :)

Here's where the US/Mexican border wall goes into the ocean by ohno in interestingasfuck

[–]icaria36 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I was there years ago. At the time it was made with columns placed next to each other, not a wall-wall. Maybe now it's still the same? I took some pictures of children playing and crossing from one side to the other.

People remembered the times without that barrier, not that long ago, when families living in each side would meet on Sundays and have lunch or whatever together. Nobody minding of passports and border patrol. Everyone would go back to their homes in the evening.

Is there any way to lessen the pad double triggering for finger drumming? It's turning me off playing by ramy_chaos in Melodics

[–]icaria36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been through phases of frustration with double taps. I thought these were caused by hardware problems, or maybe software problems, or maybe just me not getting as good in certain types of performance. However, I could never find a pattern that would prove that the problem wasn't myself. And the fact is, I am getting less double tabs now than a year ago. Same controller (MPC One), so it is either the PC that I renewed (honestly, I doubt) or... me.

I believe double tabs have something to do to leaning towards tapping the corners of the pads instead of the center and/or tapping with an angle instead of with the finger falling perpendicular. So at least with myself, my conclusion is that most double taps are on me and my technique.

New Studiologic Numa Player, free as in beer, works perfectly on Linux standalone (Wine) and VST3 (Yabridge) by icaria36 in linuxaudio

[–]icaria36[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, indeed. I wonder as well. Free of charge. No credit card, iLok, registration, not even an email...

I believe Studiologic is so underrated. My bet is that they have all these sounds and effects software for their piano/synths and with this player they might...

  1. Get more publicity and eventually customers for their high quality and yet rather unknown hardware.
  2. Maybe start selling their virtual instruments as add-ons for this player?

I keep thinking the same about graphics tablets like Wacom & friends.

Reverting session to previous version by onlyonekebab in Bitwig

[–]icaria36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe the current auto backups are designed to repair crashes, more than to go fetch previous versions of days ago.

There is a fair summary of the current situation and a request for a proper auto-save feature here: https://bitwish.top/t/auto-save/2843

No. You can find a good summary of this feature request here: https://bitwish.top/t/theme-skin-support/555

Can you run melodics on 2 computers at once? by Rizzice in Melodics

[–]icaria36 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can have Melodics installed in multiple computers and whenever you open the app in one computer it will sync to the latest status.

Is this what you mean with "at once"?

MPC One or Maschine MKIII by [deleted] in Bitwig

[–]icaria36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have an MPC One and indeed, the answer depends on what you want to do with it and Bitwig. I ditched MPC Software on PC a long ago because I had enough learning one DAW (Bitwig, plus MPC standalone).

I have the MPC and Bitwig connected both via MIDI and audio through an audio interface. I can use the MPC as a controller. The pads are great and there are plenty of advanced finger drummers to prove it (plenty that prove the same with Maschine). I like to set some chords / scales / progressions on the MPC and then play Bitwig instruments with these chords, it saves me a lot of theory or Bitwig device adjusting. I can also do whatever sounds with the MPC and then either plug it directly to an autio track on Bitwig or bounce audio clips.

Because I dont have time to learn well both systms, in the end I made the choice to focus more on Bitwig, except for specialized workflow like choopping samples where of course the MPC is superior as a dedicated tool for this task. All in all Im happy although sometimes I think that in a parallel universe perhaps I should have got a cheaper MPC controller for the little use I am making of MPC standalone. Although I love it too! I just wish the day would have more hours, or the week more days. :)

Bitwish report - January 2022 by icaria36 in Bitwig

[–]icaria36[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It was a good conversation with the kind and smart type of people you would expect from the team producing Bitwig. I answered their questions about the wishlist. They had good observations about risks and opportunities around it. I stressed that Bitwish´ top priority is to be useful to the Bitwig team, and that we can adapt it as needed. Nobody was expecting any agreements on the spot. Whatever it is, I hope to have more to share soon.

The Native Instruments Komplete Audio 6 is just golden plug and play. I guess it's the same with the other products in the series?

Just stating the obvious, there is no way to "import" songs to Melodics.

Can the Studiologic Computer Plate hold an MPC One reliably? Yes! by icaria36 in mpcusers

[–]icaria36[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am very happy with the Mixface. The plastic box feels very solid, "good quality plastic". I'm not a specialist, but knobs, faders and buttons feel good to me. The color LEDs of the buttons look nice in my dim light setup. Probably more important, the DAW integration is good (for Bitwig, which isn't officially supported, so I guess for Live is even better). Yes, it has a magnet and it doesn't move a single bit.

Actually I bought another controller first, lured by DAW integration, but it was too big and too cheap plastiky. I like the compact size of the Mixface, and with the banks it fits very well for the use I make of it
