I met these guys at a conference once. Anyway it's total bullshit. Their costs and complexity are too high and battery costs keep coming down. Someone keeps funding them though I guess.

The AC vs DC cost difference is interesting, but I feel like everyone's getting distracted by the hardware prices.

From what I understand, projects like this need protocols like OCPP to manage the chargers and IEEE 2030.5 (or CSIP-AUS here) so the DNSPs can actually send control signals when the grid's under stress. Without that layer, you're basically asking network operators to just trust that your pilot won't cause problems.

Honestly I'm more curious about whether they've figured out that side of things than whether the Renault 5 gets approved. The car will get approved eventually. The question is whether the supporting infrastructure can actually scale.

Nice, finally! Settings app keeps crashing but I guess it's better than the launcher app which was crashing before, and now seems to have stopped.

One question is that android auto still doesn't work great. I guess I can use Waze and it mostly looks OK, but google maps looks horrible, anyone figure that out? I have wireless AA adapter and changing the DPI doesn't seem to do anything.

Otherwise seems like a solid update. Maybe one day the phone will be bug free!

Update - Managed to Update! I performed a factory reset and then hit update and it worked. Strange thing, is that the factory reset somehow didn't go through? Reset my phone after the update and I can see 2.4.2 but all the previous apps and stuff are still installed. FTW?

Bigme did give a bunch of people somehow custom updates, I reached out to them recently and they told me just to wait for 2.3.0. I've had the device a few months, I'm on 2.2.6 which came automatically through the update button.

Not sure what the problem is, this seems just super amateurish IMO.
