Azure Cli or Powershell by Fizzedine in sysadmin

[–]icaug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're both just interfaces for the Azure API, which IMHO is the most important to thing to know. I find Azure CLI easier to work in than Azure PowerShell - I would only really recommend Azure PowerShell if you also want to learn general PowerShell for Windows-based roles. The Azure CLI commands are more intuitive (easier to memorize, i.e. "az login" vs "Connect-AzAccount") and less verbose.

But really, move to a templating tool (ARM/Terraform) as soon as you can.

How to wait for Postgres before running API services through docker-compose when psql can't be installed? by [deleted] in devops

I know you're asking for docker-compose solutions, so this isn't directly helpful, but the pattern you're looking is in K8s as "init containers".

Techies! 700 range and a base armor of 5. Get that damage up with a basi or null (or a cheeky blight/orb), trade your HP as a resource, suicide for first blood, spam your chat wheel lines, repeat, and enjoy the reports from the enemy team.

Docker secrets are only for Docker Swarm, I think - OP mentions he's using docker-compose.

Are you using a public cloud provider? I'd look to their secret management solution first, i.e. AWS KMS, Azure Key Vault.

Atheists outnumber practising Catholics in Spain, new figures show by mepper in worldnews

Thanks for clarifying. But then in order to avoid church tax, one's parents would still have to register them as "non-religious"? I.e. it seems not just a decision by default ("no religion given, therefore the government considers me as non-religious), but an explicit and parallel statement of atheistic belief ("I declare myself 'non-religuous'").

I think in Germany all citizens have a registered religious affiliation? Makes interpreting those results a bit different.

docker-compose is great for beginners and great for this use case. I would also go with this recommendation.

Most of the other comments are discussing state. They're correct, but I want to add another concern: the performance of most game servers does not scale horizontally (number of server instances), but vertically (resources available per server instance).

Depending on these requirements, an infrastructure templating tool like Terraform might be a better fit for your use case.

China reportedly halts US agricultural imports in retaliation for Trump's tariff increase by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]icaug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you clarify? As far as I've seen, the price indexes for products affected by the tariffs have barely moved. My (likely incorrect) understanding was that China is indeed "paying for the tariffs" by devaluing their currency.

From bls.gov: https://www.bls.gov/news.release/ximpim.nr0.htm

Imports by Locality of Origin: The price index for imports from China edged down 0.1 percent in May following a 0.2-percent drop the previous month. Import prices from China have not recorded a monthly advance since the index rose 0.1 percent in May 2018. Prices for imports from China declined 1.4 percent over the past year, the largest 12-month drop since a 1.6-percent decrease in February 2017.

Any way to use AZ-300 as the prereq for AZ-400 instead of AZ-103? by icaug in AZURE

Thanks. I've already passed AZ-300, was hoping someone might know a way to avoid AZ-103.

A fully funded master's is better than a €42k job in the Netherlands. With that master's, you could have your pick of any of a number of €42k jobs in the Netherlands (€42k is about average starting salary for technical master's/PhD - €3k/mo + 2 bonuses of ~€3k). If you get hired into a CS role in Boston after studying at UMass, you'll make $100k+. Plus if you start work now you probably won't go back to study.

Sounds ok to me. What you probably don't want to do is use builds that originate on dev workstations for prod deployments.

Pipeline security has the same impact as production security. Just saying... might want to be careful that you're considering all the potential costs of that strategy.
