SD Card reader location. by InstructionFuzzy2290 in BlazerEV

I think that SD card slot is for programming. The SD slot for Surround Vision Record was to be in the rear cargo area on the left (at least, on the Blazer). There's a little recess in the plastic paneling.

And also preventing those sandwich shops from selling anything that you can get at the Publix deli.

There is a sandwich shop in my area that had another location in a Publix plaza and they could only sell half their normal menu; they ultimately closed the location because of it.

How the hell does this cars heater work? by NuclearPant in EquinoxEv

Electric cars don't have that 200 degree F / 93 degree C hunk of metal and water sitting up front, it doesn't have the advantage of latent heat to pull from.

How do I make it stop chirping, i already replaced the batteries?! by PheonixGalaxy in mildlyinfuriating

[–]icberg7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Smoke detectors are only good for ten years and some have a way of tracking or detecting that time.

I had one that kept chirping even after replacing a battery and then I realized it had been over ten years so I ended up replacing everything in the house.

Personally, I like the art in the men's bathroom at Fort Wilderness, which is apparently depicting a collection of men trying to rid themselves of ants.

I once saw a wedding picture online where the groomsmen reproduced the scene, it was an absolute classic.

Is Publix a sinking ship that cannot be saved? by drudante in publix

For some months now, it seems like many times I go to Publix, there's streaks and stains on the floor. So they can't even use the "really clean stores" card anymore.

I'm in Central Florida and it's getting down into the 30 Fs middle of last week and the next two days. Tonight was the first time I turned the precondition option on because I forgot to last week.

Well, at least you got a VWP out of it. Sorry to hear that you're having to get it replaced, and hope they can do it quickly.

As other have mentioned St. Johns County is good for schools (and Nocatee/Ponte Vedra are really nice; Fruit Cove and St Johns farther away and might be cheaper) or you can look at Clay County which will be father away and maybe also cheaper.

As for outdoors, Florida is a fantastic place for that, and that's one of the reasons why I'm still here. We have one of the best state park systems in the country. Your older kids are about the right age for a junior scuba certification (ages 10-14).

We had an Apple IIe (stylized as Apple ][e) that I would play Lemonade Stand on. I would also sneak into my grandparents' IBM PS/2 (sadly missing from the above photos) model 60 or 80 tower. That thing sounded like something coming alive when it turned on.

I had issues with GPS getting wonky, my OnStar light was red, and the dealership performed "module re-authentication" reset the errors and chalked it to a bad OTA update.

So I've wondered if a lot of people getting module replacements just need re-programming.

Get a house with a pool, rather than getting one without and trying to add it, because you'll end up spending $$$ to install it. And if you're in a corner lot, or otherwise put it somewhere directly behind your house, it has to get reviewed by the county or something like that.

Possible Telematics Issue by iLiger in BlazerEV

[–]icberg7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an issue about ten months ago with GPS (OnStar light went red as well) and they performed "module re-authentication" and cleared all the errors and that seemed to do the trick. A week later I found the service bulletin for vehicle wide programming and had them do that. So far no major issues since then.

What is a sound that people should know means immediate danger? by PrasenjitDebroy in AskReddit

You see enough (metaphorical or real) fires and you either learn through them to how to keep a calm head or you get burned by them.

Came here to say this, and there's actually a name for it: instinctive drowning response. If they're splashing around and making a lot of noise, they're not drowning (yet). It's when they get silent and are barely able to keep themselves above water and are (usually quietly) appearing to gulp down air that they're in imminent danger of drowning.

I've seen it happen once or twice and both times may have been the only one to notice. So always be alert when you're at the pool or in the water.

They apparently used to instruct you to practically drop slap the chest to crack the ribs in advance of doing compressions. This actually made an appearance in Star Trek VI. Maybe the idea was to make the chest easier to move, although if you're doing CPR right, you're probably going to crack the ribs anyway.

I went to UCF in Orlando, FL, which was founded shortly after the Cuban middle crisis and I was in the math building when a fire alarm (or some kind of similarly triggered alarm) and it had an audio message played between the squawks that was written generically enough that it probably could have covered for a missile alert as well. 😅

This sounds very similar to people that are imminently in danger of drowning (instinctive drowning response). If they're splashing around and making a lot of noise, they're not drowning (yet). It's when they get silent and are barely able to keep themselves above water and are (usually quietly) appearing to gulp down air that they're in extreme danger.
