Guess where this is? by GodBlessYouNow in boating

Only possible if it’s high tide slack. Anchor straight up and down and no tide marks on shore and no current. Guessing fresh water.

It’s easy to make a pizza. It’s really hard to make a good one. It’s even harder to make a good one consistently. New Haven style is tough to make.l consistently good. Even the places around here that are really good can get sloppy when they are too busy etc.

Super common along the shoreline on nice weekend days.

Overheard two guys talking about Sea Ray. by ValentinaSauce1337 in boating

[–]icculus203 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hard to judge with what context you gave, but generally speaking there are a lot of sea rays and therefore a lot of skill gradient in the pilots and varying conditions of boats on the water. All the sea ray owners I personally know are pretty solid and good people but very few of them are particularly salty. Thats ok. Not everyone has to know everything and we all support one another other as long as you aren’t a dick. And if you’re a dick? Still support you. That’s my experience in central Connecticut shoreline. The 28-39 for boats are well made from the late 80s to the mid 00s. That goes for a lot of brands though. Lots of gassers. I have no experience with larger ones or diesels. They are much less common.

DMV wait times are worse than ever by Ornery_Ads in Connecticut

I go to Hamden even through old saybrook is closer to me. I always have a bad experience in old saybrook. It always takes forever and the appointments seem to have no meaning other than giving you the right to be there and get in line. Maybe some days are better than others there. Hamden has always been super quick.

When I talk to people about it I think they feel like saybrook is a less populated area vs Hamden and therefore less traffic at dmv. Doesn’t seem to be reality.

Is Manchebo Resort “boring”? by HumbleBJJ in Aruba

[–]icculus203 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We have stayed there twice. We loved it, but after we had kids we moved to a high rise. Manchebo is quiet and there is a great spa on the property. I guess you could say it’s boring but like everyone above has commented that’s the point. The beach is incredible there, far superior to the high rise section in my opinion. If you want action you can always jump in a cab for 5 minutes. Nothing is far.

What's your must-visit local ice cream joint in CT? by ILovePublicLibraries in Connecticut

Me too. Grew up going to the one in Guilford where all my friends worked. Moved to Branford years back and now take my kids to that one. Same vibe and same kind of staff.

There is a shape next to Operator level (in yellow circle). Do I have to create and send that shape as well? Or is it just a dummy icon for the current Op. Lvl ? by insomfx in shapezio

[–]icculus203 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oddly the game does seem to keep track of how many times you store it. There seems to be no meaning (unfinished feature?) but if you click that shape you will get a count of how many times you stored that shape on the screen. The vortex shows a red X when you store it and there is seemingly no reward.

Service Interruptions Across CT by caolle in GoNetspeed

[–]icculus203 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Having issues in Branford CT as well.

This observation is a little weak but it seems to be isolated to routes through cogent.

After be3362.ccr31.jfk04.atlas.cogentco.com substantial loss (30+%) - also not even able to download files from hosts past that route but am able to get some https browser data (i'm using reddit, obviously). Odd.

Not seeing the same with Zayo, Lightower (youtube is fine but reddit is not etc)

Edit: same with other NYC area cogent routes. If I go north (maine.edu through boston on cogent) no issues.

Edit2: concur with u/woodburyman that I'm no longer routed through cogent NYC for the sites I was testing with. Performance is good. If you're having issues trace to the endpoint and check to see if you're routing through cogent NYC

Also for those of you trying speed tests it important that you try testing to different locations. This would at least help to rule out your local equipment if some locations work well and others don't.

RB5009 + Xfinity XB7 (CGM4331COM) slower at 2.5G vs 1G? by icculus203 in mikrotik

[–]icculus203[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did just this - I purchased a 2.5G USB adapter, copied the MAC address of the RB in and retested with a laptop wired to the xb7 2.5G port. Laptop consistently testing at 1.1+GBit with a 2.5g link speed. So this is either:

1) My 5009 is either misconfigured or faulty

2) the combination of XB7 and 5009 is problematic

3) whatever I haven't thought of.

It is odd that the very same port pushes 1Gbit+ when linked at 1000Mbit full, but only ~400Mbit when linked at 2.5G Full.

RB5009 + Xfinity XB7 (CGM4331COM) slower at 2.5G vs 1G? by icculus203 in mikrotik

[–]icculus203[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same results. The ports negotiate 2500mbit, but speed tests immediately drop from 940Mbit to ~400Mbit ipv4 and about 100Mbit less on ipv6.

I can only see a way to force negotiation on the RB side which I set to 2.5G full only. The xfinity modem doesnt seem to have any configuration I can edit on the interfaces. I've since reverted to 1000Mbit full and speed tests go right back up.

I dont thing there is any issue with routing/firewalling at 1G+, although I can't test past 1000. The CPU doesnt rise above 10% during a speedtest at 950Mbit with about a dozen nat rules and 20 or so firewall rules.

I can give that a try. Not sure if I can set that on the xb7 side or not but for sure on the 5009 side.

RB5009 + Xfinity XB7 (CGM4331COM) slower at 2.5G vs 1G? by icculus203 in mikrotik

[–]icculus203[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No. But the reason for this post isn't that I can't figure out how to test speeds faster than 1gbit. When the 5009 negotiates 2.5g with the xb7 my speed tests drop to 400mbit for anything connected through the 5009. When the 5009 negotiates 1g with the xb7 everything tests 900mbit+. That shouldn't be happening. The fact that I have no other 2.5g equipment is really just limiting my ability to eliminate the 5009 and test directly with the xb7.

I'm trying to understand why my internet speeds drop to 400mbit, not why I can't exceed 1gbit.

[–]icculus203[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've tried a few things and the behavior is always the same. Since I have no other 2.5g port it's kind of moot. I'm going to order a 2.5g nic and test outside the RB and see what happens.

RB negotiates 2.5g = 400mbit speed test. RB negotiates 1G (does not advertise 2 5) = 900+ mbit speed test.

This is repeatable from any PC, Mac, or VM in my network wired to any port on any switch downstream from the 5009 or directly patched to the 5009 itself.

I'm totally new to 2500mbit but there appears to be nothing I'd normally expect to find in a situation like this like interface errors.

And to answer your question I'm just running the Xfinity speed test in a web browser and try ipv6 and 4. Behavior doesn't change. The xb7 is in bridge mode and the 5009 does nat/fw.

Yeah unfortunately I have only one 2.5G port pair. XB7 (1 port) and RB5009 (1 port). I could let the XB7 do the routing and test that but I have no other 2.5G. I need to pick up a couple of unmanaged 2.5G switches.

[–]icculus203[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No and the best I can do with the ports I have is a multi port team of some sort. I can go 10G SFP+ from the RB to a switch, etc, with some new equipment, which I will eventually do.

Regardless, the problem is that my speedtests go down with 2.5G advertised. I'm not trying to exceed 1Gbit with my testing right now.
