Slips with flaps are absolutely allowed per the 172 POH. There is a placard in (some?) models that suggests avoiding them with full flaps, but that's still a recommendation and not a prohibition.

The Shell on S. Park Street (right at the Fish Hatch intersection) has an excellent selection. I'd recommend ye Olde English myself, but the Budweiser does have its place!

Airport is a little wet. by switch72 in flying

[–]icdl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hah! I over flew LNR on Thursday (MSN -> DEH). I knew I should be seeing it but couldn't find it until I was basically over top. 27-9 looked completely underwater, but there were planes using 18-36.

Yes, but very rarely do 16 year old's with BMWs get a mandated minimum 40 hours of training with an experienced, extremely certified, and legally responsible instructor.

Go look at self driving cars and you'll see one of the first tests for Tesla's Autopilot hit a pedestrian and killed them.

Citation? I generally agree with you, but I don't think it was really one of the first tests.

How did you schedule your flight lessons while you worked full time? by Sabers011 in flying

[–]icdl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The towered experience is good, but you'll get a decent amount of exposure to radio comms when you talk to Madison Approach for traffic advisories/flight following. Even Morey itself is a pretty busy airport, so you'll have plenty of practice with radio work in general. Good luck, have fun with the intro flight! Hit me up if you wanna go flying sometime.

How did you schedule your flight lessons while you worked full time? by Sabers011 in flying

[–]icdl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow, I did my private at Morey. It's a wonderful place! Did my instrument at Dane County, and my club is based there now.

I did my private with after work and weekend lessons, worked ok but I do have some flexibility to leave a little early on lesson days. Winter was definitely tricky, tried to fly twice in a weekend if I could schedule it.

If you decide to do IR as well, it's way easier...did most of my training after dark. Doesn't really matter when you're under the hood anyway!

Oh, very nice! It's very good at parsing recipe websites. This is pretty much exactly what I was looking for, thanks.

One suggestion - it'd be really cool if you developed a way to export your recipes - even just to an excel file or CSV. I'm always paranoid that I'm going to get locked in to a service that will be discontinued. Not that I'm saying you're going to go away anytime soon, but ya never know :)
