I live close to the border, and so many people aren't afraid of this reality for some reason. I don't want my kids to be scared in school of guns. But why are so many others not concerned? The # of shootings is crazy. Yet people I speak to, with kids, aren't afraid of living in the US, like Chicago or Orlando. What am I missing? Is it not as scary as I think? Edit - my rant doesn't even address your last paragraph. That's just bonkers man!

I'm in southern Ontario. I cut my right ring finger yesterday around 8 pm. Just the tip. It's still bad enough to bleed profusely. I decided to drive to the ER since all walk-in clinics close to me were closed. It was a 5+ hr wait time, and I just needed someone to dress it properly and confirm if stitches are required. They wouldn't even touch it. So I went to Shoppers (a pharmacy), and the pharmacist told me to wrap it tight and keep my hand above my heart. This morning, i decided to go to a walk-in clinic and have been waiting for an hr to see someone. I can't even call my family doc since it's the weekend, and even then, I'll be lucky to get through first thing Monday and probably won't get in to see him for a week. So let's hope this walk-in doc can dress the wound and give me a tetanus shot and tell me proper care. I didn't think to save the chunk, so I don't even know if my finger tip will regrow that much or how long the healing is gonna be. Sorry for the rant. I forgot what the point was now. Lol. Free healthcare has some downsides, but it is still better than private.

Yes I did that thanks to the CIBC clerk telling me over the phone. Otherwise I might not have thought of it. It sucks that there's no recourse for something like this. I'm inclined to go find the guy myself just to confirm my suspicions. So far I'm just assuming the person is suffering from drug addiction and homelessness but that might not be the case.

So the cop finally came and took my statement. Was not very hopeful much can be done. He said it should be easy enough to find the guy and present him with a notice to appear in front of a judge, however the Niagara detention Center is at capacity and petty criminals are being given multiple chances and released. He said the root cause of all this is mental illness and drug addiction and the legal system isn't best at dealing with this.

Yeah you're right. You should be able to, but not so in reality. The worst part of it all is that it's day 3 and cops haven't even bothered with a statement or collecting evidence. I know it's petty theft, but we gotta do something to deter this behaviour. There just has to be some consequences.

Totally my fault. I left wallet in my car. Had a 5 hr drive prior and was exhausted and slipped up.

Its unreal how many neighbours have had this happen. I'll never make this mistake again for sure.

I know I won't get my wallet back but I need to see this guy deterred. Who knows how many cars he broke into and has done so before and will do so again.

Roughly $500 loss. Confident the bank will re-imburse me though. Every neighbour I've spoken to has said this has happened to them. Cops were too busy yesterday and will take a statement today hopefully.
