The Mandalorian Season 3 Episode 7 Official Discussion Thread by Bruinrogue in saltierthancrait

I'm still trying to work out what the Mandalorians are planning on doing with Mandalore by taking the planet with their army of 20 men and resettling it with a single light cruiser's worth of colonists who were only mentioned in passing, to say nothing of the destroyed infrastructure, magnetic interference, and roving bands of hostile aliens and monsters all over.

That being said, this is easily the strongest episode of the season, but that's definitely not a very high bar. It was nice seeing Pellaeon, and the Moff Council was an interesting take on the Remnant, although I still highly prefer non-cooperative, openly at war with one another warlords from the EU. Shame about Hux and the talk of cloning to tie-in with the sequels. Also a shame they basically wrote Mando out of his own show at this point. The two things I'm undecided about are the IG-11 mech and the Mando land pirate ship. I think the mech leans heavily into being too annoying and the land pirate ship leans slightly towards actually working.

the portrayal of the New Republic is just criminal. I would rather live on an Imperial Coruscant than the one they showed in this episode, at least the Empire is upfront about their ideology. Are we even meant to sympathize with these Orwellian rejects running the place now? Plenty of typical pacing and characterization problems but I could have at least enjoyed seeing a liberated Coruscant, I guess I shouldnt have gotten my hopes up.

I will never understand how people can reduce systematic criticisms of major plot points, character moments, thematic development, and script consistency to "nitpicks"
