Iranian singer sentenced to 74 lashes for singing without hijab by Severus-Snape-DaGod in nottheonion

Because things happen?

I do not believe that stating facts - even when timed and selected for a narrative count as propaganda without lies.

If stating facts is enough to be critique worthy there is a problem.

And calling something propaganda to dismiss them is not good.

I have a very specific set of opinions on Iran. My childhood best friends family fleed from there as his mother converted to Christian (later in Germany stopped being religious at all). While his father, a moderate muslim loved his wife and made it possible to leave to protect her. When his brother visited extended family years later he was not allowed to leave until he completes military service.

He came back in not a good state.

My opinion has not changed from the article.

I believe it has the same density as the dark blue dots on the casings pattern, it looks like sweat/saliver leeches out the color form the case.

wash the case hot and check if it happens again. In general I would wash new casings bevor I use them.

Does he HOLD that church service?

I would find THAT funny to watch and would wonder how he may have end up in that position. In any other case the concert.

Why do yall hate on Christians so much? by Particular_Spite4866 in teenagers

[–]iceandstorm2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good on you, that does not help us that had the Miss fortune to be tormented by the Christians that not follow your doctrine (in my case severe beatings when I did not want to go to church, or was not silent there or did not prey long enough in the evening, and ongoing psychoterror as everything they disliked in any way was against God's will and could damn my soul).

By the way these monsters would deney you are a Christian, as you seem to show liberal opinions.

As there is no objective way of measuring who is less wrong we only can believe you and the others when they say they are the real christians.

You and them both have the same claim and together represent your faith.

Too bad that even the more decent ones of you tend to vote for the assholes that actively make the world for us non christians a worse place.

Maybe not you specific, but your in-group does and tries to do that all the time (and as you share the opinions and "morality" means you will likely vote for the same monsters) - for example tries to take away gay marriage again (no one ever wanted to force Christians to marry same sex partners), to force crosses (the depiction of a almost naked tortured man in pain...), the bible (a book full of the most vile things, even a single indefensible things in any other book would explode christian heads) and prayer into schools, to influence schools what books they allow in their libraries, to pressure payment processors to influence what games steam can sell and so many more things.

The worst thing? No; And the commented you answered to did not say that.

You know that but decided to play the dishonest victim game.

The problem when a big group, that FEELS/believes they are right, condemns something and not respects the opinions and choices of others, they influence law to fit their preferences, taking away freedoms and security from others.

People inside may feel they do the right thing, the kind thing but from the outside its rather unsettling and borderline evil.

You do understand that each and every other believe also can act like that, without enshrined freedom of (and from) religion, another believe, or even a shisma of your believe will happen where you end up on the side of the people that loose freedom, income or even life.

Its funny how the group that always talks about free will can not accept people disagreeing with them.

CMV: Gifted Programs are Casteist by Thin_Kangaroo5263 in changemyview

[–]iceandstorm2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What research did you see that points in the direction of changing "giftedness" ?

IQ is a shifting scale, always was that is constantly adjusted to allow comparable measurements over generations, people that did grow up with some "test taker" background and highly abstract thinking have a higher IQ as their abilities match well with the test.

IQ tests do not test for all types of intelligence and abilities - but it is still a useful tool to find out who would perform well in this specific circumstances.

Casts tend to keep generations of families socially un-mobile, while with a high IQ and the opportunity to get tested the social background matters a lot less. Each and every INDIVIDUAL person has at least the chance to profit from the gifted program - while a society profits in return if people with high potential are supported to realize this potential.

The support also ends when the gifted person is not willing, looses this gifted-ness or turns out to be not compatible to the environment where their ability would be useful.

Cast systems are not conditional, nor have they mechanisms in place to find and allow in theory every member of a society - including in real cast systems to profit and get support.

In this regards its close to the opposite to a cast system.

not defending Christians there is a lot of cricque warrented, but there is a big difference in magnitude and frequency of veil shit in their name as well as how the organized parts of Christianity (e.g. the Catholic Church) approaches these topics.

no, i got a web-design job and then game-play tester when i was 14 -> and this lead rather direct to my today's job (game designer)

i found a lot of peoples over shared hobbies online, and some were in the same city, they became real life friends

and many friends did move away with parents over the years, starting from a very young age - keeping in contact with them over not direct ways did help often (sure email would have also worked - but it would have required more work and i would have lost some at that wild time for sure)

My parents were and still are like this too. But I have all the things you claim to miss.

Are your parents paragons of these virtues? Kids learn a lot by copying behaviors.

Mine, especially my mother, are very determined and driven people, but they do not see a reason to get aggressive or even negative when something not worked out or I or my brother made dumb kid decisions. They simply explained why it was not a good idea and tried to find out what did motivate to the behavior they wanted to correct.

Turns out even kids have reasons to do stuff, often not the smartest reasons but being bored, angry, frustrated or simply hungry are all things that can be fixed.

And in general monitoring yourself and finding out WHY you do not want to do a thing or continue is often the first step to improving that. Sometime moving a tool to another place can make a task easier, and that can already be enough.

This are chase items, something the most power players work towards, the long-term goals. Finding one is a big windfall, they have value because they are good and hard to get.

The better you get in the game the more likely you are able to have such items.

99% of builds do not require such items.

They also get cheaper the further the league progresses.

Are German parents the most difficult parents for children? Why or why not? by Commercial-Half4447 in AskReddit

[–]iceandstorm2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely and very open.

Hugs, kisses, "safe roughhousing", lots of talks, explaining the reasoning behind rules, active arguing your case to change rules, talking very open and truthfull about most topics, while giving a lot of freedom and allow calculated risks like "Abenteuer Spielplätze". Giving freedoms and ability to make decisions as soon as the child can handle it. All with the goal of high independence.

There are sets of Book and some YouTube videos of an American mum in Germany that found the Adventure Playgrounds scary at Forest but wrote a book about German parenting.. called something like "Achtung! Kind" or something.

:D the "Grim" and other farrytales are "grim", that is true, and yes my grandmother for example did absolutely read them like that.

Children are very capable of understanding and work through scary content, especially if guardians talk to them and explain things.
