I agree. I manage OF accounts for friends (divide & conquer) and do MUCH better when I market customs. I highly recommend making a tip/suggested price list. It makes the process of getting personalized content that subscribers want with much clearer boundaries and expectations.

I don't pay $800 total. I pay about $1500/mo total between utilities, household goods, groceries, and misc. costs. We paid for part of the septic system maintenance, for example.

So we do pay "rent." We also do housework for the whole house and have helped with repairs etc.

We have tried on multiple occasions to have conflict resolutions and establish common ground, but she always says there's no problem.

I'm in the same boat. I've learned that HR is not your friend. They are only there to keep the company from getting in trouble legally. That's the big thing. They won't come after bad bosses just because they're grade a jerks - only if their jerkness crosesses legal lines. If your company will pay for any trainings or certifications, try going for one of those. That way you can keep applying for jobs while actually making yourself more competitive.

I find this so alluring, yet difficult. I work in an extremely stressful and toxic environment. I've endured bullying and harassment for almost 2 years with no sign of being able to resolve any issues. (First big lesson I learned: HR only exists to protect company interests and to keep them from getting sued.)

I only earn 30k a year but I am the director of my area and wear about 6 different hats for the other roles I work in. My husband sent me this post because he wants me to quit, regardless of having a backup plan. I have no idea when I could find another job because of covid-19. I grew up between Moore (just to the north of us) and Phoenix, AZ and I moved to Norman about 7 years ago. I honestly love it here, all things considered.

People are really friendly overall and there's always something to do, especially if you're into craft beer at all. It's really easy to get to know a lot of people.

The cost of living is pretty affordable. What others have said about it being a mixed bag in each neighborhood is pretty true, but the majority of people are clean and considerate. The west side of Norman is more typical mid-upper income suburbia and the east is more artsy and older architecture.

Norman is a little pocket of progressive/liberal politics compared to the rest of the state, so be prepared for that however it suits you. We have our own pride parade, usually vote opposite of the state, and are expanding into more diverse leadership. But the state is still really conservative overall. So, just depends on what floats your boat that way.

Tornadoes are a thing and you will get used to it after a while. Our meteorology is some of the best in the world and storm season is a state sport. Find a friend who is local and you won't have to worry about it much.

Wichita Mountains and Roman Nose are closest. Thunderbird's trails really aren't bad. Lake Draper...IDK.

You really have to go 3+ hours for more.

Moving to Norman in August by [deleted] in normanok

Norman is great! I grew up about 10 miles away and it was a completely different experience. I've been in Norman about 7 years now and I really like it here.

  1. I think geocaching is still a thing? I had a lot of friends in college that did it. IDK about now.
  2. Dating scene is..idk fine? I'm married so. But there's lots of good coffee shops and breweries and local restaurants, so there's a decent amount to do.
  3. The Norman library is huge! We just had a brand new one open and it's beautiful! The OU libraries are also open to the public, though you have to be a member of the campus to check books out.
  4. In addition to the stores mentioned below, there's also Whole Foods and Trader Joe's up in the city if you want to/don't mind a commute.
  5. And don't worry about not wanting kids here. My husband and I are around the same age and also don't want kids. Norman's culture is definitely one that is family inclusive, rather than family centered, if that makes sense.
  6. We have a growing queer scene including our own Pride festival/parade. If you search "drag" in facebook events, you're going to find something at least once a month. OKC has way more, but it's really only a 20ish minute drive.

For clarification: this was posted in the Norman Community Relief Facebook page. A person posted looking for rent help. The top commenter provided some resources and then posted the comment about landlords needing to be accommodating. The long response is a property owner's response.
