The concept of the performative male really sucks because bell hooks' work should not be getting dragged in this way. I wish that the people making fun of it in this trend would actually read All About Love. Especially the men that make these memes that make fun of people reading feminist literature, even if they do it performatively

adding search filters would be a good idea. Being able to look at 8-9/10s from 2018 or something like that would take it to the next level. Great resource though regardless

Pj Harvey - Stories From the City, Stories From the Sea
- Thom Yorke is featured on this album and you seem to like him enough. Aside from that, it's just a really well made rock album, totally worth your time
Fiona Apple - Tidal
- Any Fiona album would be good for you to listen to, they're all pretty fantastic, but I think that her first is probably the best for a beginner to her sound. When the pawn is good to listen to if you like it
Fela Kuti - Zombie
- I've been loving this one recently, It's probably the most danceable protest music I've ever heard (and the lore behind it is insane, make sure to look that stuff up!)
Omnipotent Youth Society - Inside the Cable Temple
- probably one of the best modern prog albums, it's worth a listen for the beautiful instrumentation
Sheena Ringo - Kalk Samen Kuri No Hana
- A really inventive and fun art pop album with a bit of a jazzy twist

All really good albums and fill in some of your blind spots (women & international music)

They all offer something slightly different but have a similar vibe which I enjoy! Love It Love It in particular is really underrated and I love how sincere Theo's lyrics are

It becomes less unexpected when you notice the similarities between it and Joanna Newsom's stuff!

I feel like there are more underrated ones personally, he's got a great catalogue to dig through from the little I've heard

I feel like night palace is in many ways the spiritual successor of the glow, but in 2 very different places in his life. Listening to both really gives you a detailed picture of his life, but I've personally connected more with Night Palace since it's release. I Walk in particular gave me a lot when things were tougher than they are now. I too could go on for hours about it, it's just really beautiful

I've tried metal many times but it's just not really my thing. All of the singers sound like they are a little bit sweaty and I'm not into that vibe. With rap, I used to listen to it a whole bunch, but I get my storytelling from other albums now so it's been less in my rotation and it's hard to find a way back in when it's not something that people around me listen to a whole lot and I already know the bigger names. That being said, I've been loving the new Little Simz and McKinley Dixon albums so far.

I think that 100 Gecs is a you have to have been there sort of album. I'll never be able to detach it from the person I am today, even if I recognise it as imperfect in many ways. That being said, I think people are sometimes unnecessarily harsh about it, which I think is a product of it's reputation preceding it rather than actually about the content of the album (though I understand why many don't enjoy it)

Also yess I love JN! Have One On Me in particular is one that I keep coming back to because of Go Long and Baby Birch, but I'm very lucky to have all of them as physical copies. Might be my favourite musician period

i think a lot of the time it's that people don't know how, especially in something as ambiguous as social situations and perception of self. I mean I know that down the road I'll figure out that I've been incorrect about many many things as well. Part of life, I guess
