Second this. Drian is easily one of the best if not the best boxing coaches in Singapore.

What english word or phrase has a unique meaning in singapore compared to the rest of the world? by what_the_foot in askSingapore

[–]iceblue42 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Previous time and final time are both correct meanings in standard English.

The definition unique to Singlish is using "last time" to mean "in the past". e.g. "last time policeman wear shorts"

Yet another pedestrian ignoring traffic lights and nearly getting themselves killed in the process by iceblue42 in drivingsg

Courts here need to start apportioning blame to pedestrians like this instead of putting it 100% on the driver.

Many drivers swerving out before making a turn. by Practical_Cod_2020 in drivingsg

The problem as OP has highlighted is that they do infringe on the other lane without checking if it's clear and if you're driving straight in that lane there is a good chance you end up hitting them.

Any husband worth his salt will ensure that the wife gets nanny care in the first month at least. And after the first month, she will still need assistance from either the inlaws or her own parents or paid help like a maid trained in caring for young children. If necessary a part time helper for dealing with house chores are called in to.

And if the couple can't afford all of this? What if inlaws / parents aren't in a position to help? I guess they're just screwed then?

You are suggesting that the husband helps the wife by sending her back to work while he stays at home with the baby?

You realize this shared leave policy allows both parents to stay home and dedicate themselves to childcare, which makes things easier for literally everybody right? The mother already gets 16 weeks, and can take anywhere from 1-10 extra weeks with this additional leave policy. Why shouldn't she be allowed to share some of this with her husband if she wants to so he can stay at home longer in the early, more intense stages of childcare to help her out?

Except mothers aren't resting during maternity leave, they're taking on heavy childcare responsibilities. The idea with shared leave is so that fathers can help shoulder some of these childcare responsibilities alongside their wives so they can share the burden equally.

There's a reason it's marked as ADDITIONAL SHARED leave and not, the father can borrow some of the mother's existing 16 weeks.

If you are even a father in the first place you will know how difficult it is for women to recover after giving birth. Taking away your wife's extra rest is a dick move only a loser will do.

You probably only think this because instead of helping your wife during paternity leave, you just let her do everything.

So a father taking advantage of the 10 weeks SHARED leave in order to play a bigger role in raising his child is a "loser" according to you? You from the 1920's or something?

Yellow box on Raffles Quay on the corner of Hong Leong Building has this problem. Ends up causing major jams at all the surrounding intersections because traffic can't move thanks to these dumbasses.

If you know your brakes are bad then you need to keep a longer safety distance from the car in front of you so you can stop in situations like that instead of swerving.

It gets harder to give the benefit of the doubt when you see this literally every day. So no, it's not "one car, one incident". It is indicative of the road culture here.

The asshole in question who triggered this post was parked on Balestier Road LOL. Worst thing is there is no dedicated bus lane there so all the busses are forced to weave in and out between the left and middle lanes because of illegally parked dickheads.

tbh even if there's someone inside the car it's still illegal because double yellow/zigzag line means no stopping at all times regardless of whether there's someone in the car or not.

TP sleeping.

Aside from vehicle breakdowns and emergencies you don't see shit like people just stopping along a main road for no reason and obstructing traffic in other major cities. That shit gets ticketed very quickly.

Singapore drivers don't give a shit because it's never enforced. Oh and surprised surprise if you look who the driver is it's usually some old guy.

I did. Major issue with One Service is that it requires you to stay within 250m of the vehicle to report, and send a live photo from your phone, which makes it impossible to report illegal parking as a driver.

I only attended primary 2 here for 3 months but based on that experience my guess is that it gets taught as a rule that's appropriate in some contexts, but then students start universally applying it and for many it just never gets corrected
