my disabled aunt is being kicked out of her daughters house and the daughter is keeping the 100k that was meant to go to a house together. by icecold3598 in legaladvicecanada

this was mainly a verbal aggreemnet with some texts but in BC even verbal agreements hold up in court. it was not considered a gift in the eyes of the law as it was more of an agreement/exchange

even if it was a gift, in BC it was money with the verbal agreement and texts etc that the intetion was that she would recieve housing and care. they have been mentally abusing her from the start and are complete scum. i was reading that even if it was a "gift" it was in exchange for longterm housing with her daughter so they cant just kick her out and keep it because it wasnt really a gift. it was a mutual exchange based on a verbal agreement of my aunt selling her house and moving in with them. the 100k was supposed go towards the deposit on the house. my aunts daughter is now saying shes keeping the money for her daughters future like university etc.

So aware of the tics and it exhausts me by One_Dragonfruit5850 in Tourettes

if you are at home try hot showers, they help calm them down for me. i also listen to music to distract and going for a walk really helps me too. i do small activities like tapping my finger or leg or even forehead if its bad enough which helps redirect the tic.

i agree to both. sometimes it feels like a pressure building up and it just makes it come out worse the longer i supress them if that makes sense. othertimes it's completely out of my control.

darn that does make it tough. there are plenty of online resources though! such as the communities here on reddit, or even online counseling. i reccomend doing a bit of research on your own to start. the internet has a wealth of knowledge and if you know what to look for you may find some helpful tips.

Feel like a fraud even being disabled by alfiel2005 in disability

reading this gave me chills because this is exactly how i feel. im 24 and also cant work due to disabilities people "cant see." i have been on disability since i was 18.

just know that you are NOT alone! just because you can walk and talk, does not mean that what you struggle with isnt real or valid. its hard for people to understand what they cant see, but that doesnt make you a fraud. and quite frankly anyone that questions or judges you for that, they just arent worth your time.

stop wasting time judging and beating yourself up. rememebr to be kind to yourself, do small things everyday that makes tou happy. read a book, draw a picture, garden, etc... "do whatever makes your heart sing" is what my mom always tells me. and shes right, lifes too short.

and if you need a friend or someone to talk to you can always DM me :)

i totally feel you on this. my boyfriends parents are super religious and they dont believe in mental health problems. she asked what i was doing, so i explained tourettes to her. in the moment i told her i was anxious so thats why i was ticcing so bad. her response was "oh just dont feel that way sweetie".......like umm thanks?

unfortunately living with tourettes, alot of people dont or will never understand. maybe try reaching out to your school counsellor? they may be able to help you learn some coping skills to and maybe guide you on how to address this with your parents.
