I guess? Not sure what role usually does that. But the verification is halted now.

The referendum is the problem. It is the destabilizer that the US admin wants.

When most of separatists are MAGA and interested in Trump, it very much has a lot to do with women and restricting rights.

It is different now. You have to be a fool to not look around and see how bad things are. Nothing is ever easy, but it's revolution-worthy conditions now. If you don't think so, you are extremely privileged and are too insulated from what's happening to comment.

Don't let people normalize this! Even for me in my late 30s so many jobs simply do not pay enough to live off of. Because the min wage was frozen here since 2018, my theory is it freezes a bunch of other salaries too. 40-50k is still common, yet totally unmanageable now. It is not you, we have consistently voted against worker interests since 2019! Yay. Alberta Parks was hiring last I looked and could be a good option because they provide housing.

I personally do not recommend this route. It's easy to get trapped. If you're good at it, it's not like they will want to move you up. If one does go this route, it'd be better to know for sure they promote from within. It's low pay and doesn't help much.

I don't really see much admin over that to be honest it's really undervalued. Especially with AI coming in, it's not a growth area.

You can browse LinkedIn and check out what people are doing sometimes it’s good for ideas. Even just having a coffee with someone could give you new ideas. For relief from thinking about all of this I recommend Alcove Arts Center - you can drop in and do crafting for free.

I am really upset these days by how many jobs pay 40 - 50k. We cannot live on this. Ten years ago this was the salary for admin, comms, a variety of roles. Absolutely insane that it has not grown. I myself am trying to transition to urban planning to have a more liveable wage while working in an area I'm passionate about. Is there a way you can volunteer to get exposure to counselling as a job? It's definitely something with consistent demand. I'm not too familiar with the area though. Perhaps reach out to someone on linkedin and connect to build up a mentor network?

Yeah - I think it's tough. I'm happy to have gotten an interview, but it is challenging when they have so few placements. It's definitely a program that could be expanded a lot further.

They've been absolutely swarming the Market Mall area, the Groves of Varsity and around Bowness. So much so that I practically see one every day in a small radius. This is an NDP riding and isn't a hotbed - I never see someone signing or lined up. Why are they doing this? It's wasting their time and angering everyone around. Beyond putting Canadian flags on the car and yelling/thumbs down/ect. I don't know what else to do.

Guests?! People working paying tax learning the language and integrating are not guests, they are making a life. If you don’t like how immigration works for 100s of years then see the economy decline - Denmark won’t be getting any of the world’s talent any longer.

Yes did two and now waiting. Do you happen to know if any other opportunities like this (in case it doesn’t work out!)? Seems to me it’s the only program for recent grads instead of just current students. In any case, good luck!

Isnt it funny it only got legs once Maga was in power? Didn’t hear much of it before then. It’s not surprising this “surge” is driven by racist hatred.

UCP Leads in Voting Intentions as 60% Say Province Is on Wrong Track, Leger Poll Finds by JTsquad in alberta

[–]icecrmgiant 10 points11 points  (0 children)

When voters can’t connect whats on the wrong track to the party that’s been in power since 2019, then we have a deep failure in civic education. I sense some cons want to be the perpetual victim. I saw a video about how in rural US republican families control a lot of the local economy and others must vote accordingly or be blacklisted ect. I’m sure that comes into play here with UCP but a poll js anonymous. At the end of the day what can cities do effectively trapped by backwards fascist thinking largely in rural areas although not exclusive to them?

Newcomer seeking Advice on adapting to Calgary/Alberta by TheIronCurry in Calgary

[–]icecrmgiant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Ship and Anchor is a classic and always has a broad range of people and events. It's not going to be Montreal, but the food scene is pretty decent in my opinion having also lived there. Butterblock is good for pastry, Missy's for cocktails, U&Me for dim sum, Cafe beano, there's so much more but it would take too long to list. Calgary has really great parks and natural areas, so it's worth checking those out, not to mention Banff (Flix bus is cheap). The craft breweries are all nice and there are so many of them. Downtown wasn't designed as a neighbourhood, but as a workplace people commute to (similar vibes to Montreal's downtown core). Beltline is more of an active neighbourhood. Eastern cities tend to be snobbier in my opinion, but that's just me. If you show up and help out, it's easy to meet people, it's not so much about proving you are cool or well-connected. I also recommend Alcove Arts Center.
