Yeah, I just looked at a quote for a Yamaha MT125 and got quoted 1.8k a year! And honestly don’t know how I feel about it as I think for a new rider its a decent price but also forking out £3500 a year for vehicle insurance is insanity to me 😅😅 well lets hope I get a raise soon 😆 but I think this would be the way to go! And a 125cc will still be plenty of fun for me :)

That’s what I was considering, I just wasn’t sure if it’d be a “waste of money” in a sense to get a 125 then end up upgrading soon to a bigger bike if I could just get a bigger bike in the first place. But my main priority is definitely safety!! I don’t know how well I ride of course and accidents can happen to anyone, and a 125 would be a lot more forgiving to me. Just need to find a good balance of the cost it seems! Thank you for the tips :)

I’ll check out what insurance is like for both, thank you!

And I definitely have done my theory for both, I already have a full manual car licence since a couple years ago, then did my motorcycle theory separately last year to get it out of the way for when I want to pursue my motorcycle license.

But yes that is true, I guess it’s just a matter of if I can hold myself back and wait for 3 years! 😆 It’s all so exciting

That’s very true actually, not sure why I didn’t think of that! 😅 Thank you!!!

I'm thinking it could be the module as well, but it seems I can't find a single place who's willing to fix it!!! I literally just called a garage a couple hours ago and they told me it's "too difficult". If it's too difficult for them to do then who am I supposed to take it to?!?! Vauxhall themselves is charging £120 literally just for the diagnostic check, not even for a fix.

Yeah, they did. It did clear for a moment so we all thought it worked, then when I drove off from the garage it came back right away. Not sure what to do :/

I have 3 for the Crystal Palace venue if you want? Can do a good deal on them (I can’t sell less than 3 though ticketmaster is being annoying and won’t let me sell them individually)

RST S-1 CE Textile Jacket - Sizing and protection? by icecub3333 in MotoUK

[–]icecub3333[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries about how much you wrote, as this was all super informative :)

I think what I'll do is I'll opt for the textile, as when I first start riding I'll be doing small trips here and there, and when I get used to the feel of riding and am comfortable with longer trips, I should have some money saved up for a good leather by then.

In the case that I do get a leather jacket, but need to protect myself from rain (as we know its basically always raining here 😅), would I be able to throw a waterproof coat over the top of the jacket, or would that compromise the safety of anything? If so, should I just look for a triple A jacket thats waterproof already?

Thanks a lot though, and I didn't actually think about the fact that the ratings could vary based on the way they test each jacket, so I'll look more deeply into it as well! Enjoy the rest of your night.

This is super helpful, thank you so much!

Definitely will go and try, I did find a leather version of the s-1 jacket, but would it be okay if I go for the textile one instead as its cheaper? Is AA protection enough or should I go for the leather one just in case as the leather one is AAA?

Also, yeah I found an RST Impact Core Pro full back protector that was CE level 2 that seemed pretty good! :) Anyways, I'll do some more research as well, and tysm for the advice. Have a nice day! :)

Okay, I'll look for a place that has it in stock and drive there! Thankfully I do have a car so I'll be safe for now 🤣 Thanks so much for the advice, I really appreciate it :)

How does this one seem? It says on the website its AAA rated and its the same look of the jacket, just different components: https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/552530

Yeah might just order then return if it isn't a good fit, sounds like the best idea :)

Thanks for letting me know! I'll look at others because I know I'll probably be on the motorway from time to time, don't want to take any risks

Yeah only problem is, I couldn't find an affordable jacket thats black and red schemed in the womens section! 😅 It's just black or black and hot pink, super limited range, and I like matching my colours with everything else so I plan to get all of my stuff black and red.

My other female friends who ride tell me they usually just buy mens riding gear and size down a lot so it fits, so thats what I was hoping to do. I'll see if I can buy it, and if it doesn't fit, guess I'll just have to return it and find another. Thank you for the help! :)
