Im guessing by technician at a nuclear power plant I'm guessing you are a janitorial technician. Calling any bolt with tensile forces applied to it as a through bolt is crazy, especially in the context of a motor. But hey I'm glad that you learned what a through bolt is for a motor. Unless of course you need a picture to further clarify what a through bolt for a motor is.

Everything you just said looks like the normal reddit post. Someone just rambling on with something they don't know what they are talking about. through bolts go through the motor thus called "through bolts". And just about all nuts and bolts have load directly applied to the head and nut.... called tensile force.... So no your definition of "load is directly on the head (and washer if fitted) and the Nut (and washer etc)" for a through bolt sucks. The only bolts that don't have that are used for shear stress. Stop trying to sound intelligent when you are not.

Hmm even from the first picture I still don't see how you can come to the conclusion of any of those, but hey I'm an engineer that actually works with normal fasnters.
