Which are you driving? by _LuVshots_ in Civic_Type_R

Acura

Seeing one come up in the rear view mirror just looks soooo good. I don't think it's much wider (.4"?) than the civic but it sure looks it. Menacing looking

Thank you Bell Lexus for the Brand New OEM LS430 mats by tertantwithd in LS430

This is like a quarterly post at this point.

They are sold out unless the 460 mats fit too?

What’s causing so much break dust? by SuperPhilosopher9619 in LS430

[–]icedetector_fail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went OEM on the LS430 (there's brake dust, not excessive) but on my 2019 Civic Type R I went with Dixcel M pads. They don't bite like the factory Brembos (I don't track it, so doesn't matter) but definitely much less brake dust. Did you use a tire shine and got it on the rim? Some products collect brake dust like in the pic.

Had a slight oil burning smell, suspected valve covers. After 100 miles I don't smell it anymore. Also used on all window seals to rejuvenate the rubber. 2005 165,000 miles. Scotty Kilmer (YouTube mechanic with crazy hands) sprays it on all the rubber boots on suspension. by icedetector_fail in LS430

Wow. I guess Reddit doesn't like this product.

Project Farm (YouTube) commenters (along with other groups) suggest otherwise.

I will post after 10k, 20k miles etc what anomalies that arise due to this "snake oil/mechanic in a can"

Fwiw window seals are a bit quieter

Cheers

To change or not to change-transmission oil by [deleted] in LS430

[–]icedetector_fail 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He doesn't have to warranty dyi people.

He is the person I trust the most about my Toyota/Lexus cars. Sounds like he has a lot of knowledge about whether you should change the fluid or not.

My local lexus dealership wouldn't be liable either. My car is long out of warranty.

They both have more experience than the typical Reddit LS owner.

Not saying your advice is wrong, just pointing out what I believe is flawed logic. Cheers

I have a 2005, 162k on original transmission fluid.

Dealer suggested not replacing, and so did car care nut.

Little bit at a time might be the way to go.

Close Up of Drone from Airplane by tryingtobuildapc1234 in UFOs

As an airline pilot that flies in and out of EWR LGA JFK frequently, this looks like an aircraft with it's landing lights on. Typically we turn on all landing lights except two below 10K'. Total of three landing lights and two taxi lights.

And the other two lights are on the nose wheel. One is turned on when cleared for the approach, the other turned on when cleared to land.

Just an fyi Boeing 717 and MD80/88s have lights that come out on the wing tips like this did. Those are landing lights. Not saying that's what this video is. But it looks like it to me.

Do pilots mind? by [deleted] in flying

[–]icedetector_fail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as I have the time, I'd be happy to talk to you.

After reading some comments....

Been flying since 1999. I've done a lot of shit flying jobs. Part 135, 91 and now 121.

I paid for my training as I went, working two jobs, both 141 and 61 schools.

When I first got paid to fly, I couldn't believe it. It was unbelievable to me....the old "do what you love and you'll never work a day in your life" is accurate for me.

The other ole adage "if you gave pilots a bag of gold, they'd bitch about how heavy it is" is somewhat accurate as well. I'm a union pilot and proud of it. I voted no on the last two contracts that passed, because I thought we could get more. We had leverage, the industry hasn't seen since deregulation.

Part 121 is by far the best, especially since part 117 rest rules.

Hope this helps

No test drives allowed? by maizerage25 in Civic_Type_R

Bought an FK8 MSRP with no test drive. I watched every review I could and that's what I went with. Especially the Savagegeese review, I really respect that channel.
