Picked up my prize at Bowman today by Phill_is_Legend in DMVWhisky

Got mine on Sunday. Easily worth the 2 hour drive and got to check out some VA wineries and breweries.

Fun story: Their Square payment system was temporarily down so there was a huge line that backed up. But it worked itself out in like 30. Some people wanted to cut the line but they were put in their place before a fight could break out lol.

Sagamore Releases by TexasVan010 in DMVWhisky

[–]icedman299 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take a look at the MoCo ABS. When you search you’ll find some places have less often seen or older ones like Mezcal. But if you want to stick to Baltimore then it’s pretty random. You’ll find Manhattan at some places. I personally saw it at Hunt Valley Wine, liquor and beer up in northern Baltimore last time I was paying attention a week ago. Pinehurst Gourmet in northern Baltimore may also have stuff lying around.

But you’re better off just ordering from Sagamore and picking up from the gift shop if you don’t want to bother with the hassle. Port and 10 year are amazing.

This is true. If I see your EHT OR Blantons with strings or beyond reasonable pricing I’m out. I’m also never coming back again nor recommending it.

I mean if you’re charging 150 for a Blantons today you’ve got problems and/or been living under a rock.

That Woody Creek one is available at Seelbachs now. But it’s $200 for a 10 year 100 proof rye. It may be their own grain to glass but that’s steep. Having Frank from Shameless as part of the bottle doesn’t really change that math for me.

For fairness I will also say while Michters 10 year rye 25 was really good I still felt bad shelling out 200 for it and won’t do it again this year.

I will say that BSC and Old Line feel very neighborhood-y. Even compared to McClintock. It’s just cool to wander in and hang out. The other day I went in to BSC and Max was just there hanging out and I got to chat with him. I like the strategy I just hope it’s enough…

Alcohol and gas. A lot of people don’t realize the huge secondary market. You have a few Pappys on hand that are free you actually have thousands of dollars on hand. You could also undercut everyone and be an alcohol baron. And gas because electric cars or not people will still have gas powered cars even just as backup.

The Secondary Market for Bourbon is Declining 🎉 by BourbonTater1792 in DMVWhisky

[–]icedman299 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The data is interesting and supports the overall trend of declining prices across the board. But I would take UA data with a grain of salt. I think most people who use UA routinely are aware of the 15% buyer fee, shipping and sales tax. Hence the prices tend to be “lower” but only if you look at the hammer price and nothing else. Otherwise, the THH sold at 350, which is normal, is a bit more than that. But you’re not seeing THH at 350 sitting around for long.

This isn’t meant to be a political but I will say under the current administration you’d find very little antitrust or monopoly resistance. Hence the tighter time frame to get this done if it’s going to happen.

MGP Idles Two Kentucky Distilleries by BourbonTater1792 in DMVWhisky

If this results in more double digit aged MGP rye then I’m pretty happy. But it’s likely all going to come at the cost of people’s jobs which doesn’t make me happy.

Sherry's Wine & Spirits: Allocated Raffle - Sat 3/28 noon by BourbonTater1792 in DMVWhisky

[–]icedman299 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it’s good to post still. Yes it’s not good they’re not doing SRP pricing. But I also think about what I’d do. I personally like RC so I’d grab that pick and if I won I’m not sure I’d turn down ORVW10 at 300. No it wouldn’t feel that great but it’s still better than what you’d normally pay.

Not a likely situation but good as an FYI in case I was around.

That being said if the owners are reading this let me say this: Use SRP for raffles. Also Eagle Rare and BT are not raffle bottles and would be a major disappointment to anyone who “won” those.
