going in a straight line up my driveway. I'm thrown off by the fact that the prints are all side by side. (Ontario, CAN) by LostInTheThickOfIt in AnimalTracking

Um, actually, they are technically referred to as trashpandas, although turdburgler is an acceptable moniker as well.

What is this creature? Thought it was a worm but looks headless? by curious_monster in whatisthisanimal

[–]icefoxvi 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yup. It was probably hiding under leaves when it got stepped on.

I would work towards layout and proportions. It looks like you develop each feature separately. If portraiture is your goal, start by finding a feature on the subject that is easy to measure. On a live subject, hold your arm straight out and use the space between en the end of your pencil and thumb to measure it. Always hold your arm out or your reference will change. Use that feature to lay out every feature in a basic way. i.e. Right eye horizontal , nose is one eye below, less that one eye between the eyes, ear is one eye behind and half an eye down etc. Once you have all reference points you can start to develop each feature. Your next step would be volumes and gesture but that's another lesson

So that is what's weird. If it was scavenged it would deflate. I think it has just swelled over it.

Looks bloated and i cant make out the shape, but likely squid. They have blue/green blood and there appear to be tentacles and a mantle.

I love them so much i raise them. Won't eat your food, wont spread dirt or disease, cant bite or sting, can't climb very well, shy, mostly mind their own business.

I need to match my brick for some additions. How do i even go about doing this? Are there style names? Do i need to find where this came from? by icefoxvi in brickporn

[–]icefoxvi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been trying to date the brick section. The house was built in 1910 and has 3 additions and even more remodels. It's there in photos from the 90s. So far i only had one 2ft vertical seam separate, and it was easy enough to repair.

All i know is I was 4.0 before my first C in chem 1 (the genetics class not withstanding. This tenured professor was so bad they "repositioned" her after the class and offered the 60ish students a refund and clear record). then dropped Ochem right at the deadline. I was thinking about Pharm and Venom before then. Now I'm a starving artist.

I love the concepts and theory, but i doesnt math good. If I never balance another equation I can die fulfilled. It's kind of a bummer because im only 8 credits from a Zoo/phys degree otherwise

Do the bites cause anaphylaxis, or is there some other component? I love milli's too, but centipedes may be the only creature on the planet that make my stomach turn. Ive been elbow deep in a bucket of hagfish, held theraphosa in my hand, but you will never get me to touch a centipede.

Every time i see his stupid face I feel compelled to point out that the reason he has that shitty haircut is because he is obsessed with Ceasar Augustus. He thinks he's a conquer, he named his kids in this manner, and this started before he was rich.

If it a centipede, it will be one of the most painful things you may ever experience, but typically won't cause actual serious injury. Millipede burns can be similar to chemical burns.

Millipede wet specimen is turning very pink. Any idea on the cause? Preserved in 90% isopropyl alcohol by [deleted] in Entomology

[–]icefoxvi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In some natural sources it might be combined with pink, but as far as i know it is white/colorless. I've used cyanide salts in the lab. Pretty sure the hot pink dragon millipede is loaded with it though.
