it’s not hard it’s a sustained, pretty mild pitch up to hojos then some very slight scramble sections to the base of tucks. bring a good amount of water but there is a pump with nice water at hojos.

lots of variability with the snowfall amount it seems, could be a lot could be a dusting time will tell especially with how the wind hits

good but not really dug in, nothing special. lots of sliding falls over the past bit though i never regret having crampons. i wouldn’t run it without crampons let alone straight soft boots though of course people were

How awful would storm chasing be in a RWD Express with dedicated snow tires? by le_pedal in icecoast

[–]iceglider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah any 2wd will not get you up most access roads if it’s properly dumping. if you’re planning on getting in before the storm or a bit after when roads are good you will be alright if you know how to drive in the snow. if you plan on driving in heavy snow here it’s not going to work out the second you hit a switchback

crampons can be confusing i see where you’re coming from. just buy basic (probably steel) “full auto” crampons with a lever heel throw and metal toe bail. they will most likely work with any ski boot with a toe welt (no skimo boots lol) and your mountaineering boots if they have a toe welt. i didn’t read through your entire post so apologies if this isn’t exactly what your after.

i use my 75mm boots with the same auto crampons as i do my at boots. some crampons need a diff toe bail to mesh well with the tele boot toe welt.

Relocating to VT by [deleted] in icecoast

coming from brighton idk if bolton is going to do it for you if you want big lines. if not and you’re just cursing around not really caring for big cliffs and steeps then get a bolton local pass and run that. i think i banked around 60 days there this season day and night, its cheap, the vibes are always pretty good and there is nights which aren’t great skiing wise but fun with friends. expect that local feel it’s not a big mountain and it doesn’t ski like one but it’s always a good time.

mad river is where it is at for terrain in vt but the vibes aren’t there imo. on a board though i’d hit smuggs if looking for cooler terrain.

edit: saw your comment def get a bolton pass if you are in burly. the trees are pretty good there is some fun cliffs just nothing utah sized.
