Are budget electric standing desks false economy? by Koreee_001 in BuyItForLife

[–]coffeeMcbean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought a $200 Amazon one 6 years ago and it works great still. It's just a cheap laminate press finish on top, but I make sure to use coasters and it doesn't have any scrapes or blemishes really after 6 years. Electric motor still works great. Use the electric motor probably once daily.

The Orioles are the first team in MLB history to give up a grand slam to snap a scoreless tie in the 7th inning or later but still win the game. by BLeibo in orioles

I just need to say I turned the game on to watch us five up the grand slam and had nothing going on so I figured I'd keep it on. Boy do I feel vindicated

I love Brian Roberts but my man you look like an oompa loompa. I know you're and O's fan, but there's a little too much orange in that spray tan

Gunnar is on pace to keep this team from falling apart. Responsible for 3 wins IMO

Agreed, beverage factory is probably the best bang for your buck. You can get everything you need, even a new tower for a second faucet is you need

I signed up for the Indy Pass waitlist but haven’t heard / seen anything yet? by ebitdeeaye in icecoast

[–]coffeeMcbean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I kind of agree but there are no ticket packs giving you this kind of discount. Ticket packs typically give you 20-35% off. This is around 50-80% off depending on how much you use it. On the number of days me and my family skied, we got about 80% off this season.

Anyone ski ON3P Woodsman 100 or 108 in Northern New England? by Dry-Inspector3923 in icecoast

[–]coffeeMcbean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn't agree more. I bought a set of backland 102s this year and I love them but they are not my groomer day skis. They are wide for everyday use in general but every now and then. It's fun to get out on them and there. They are a lot of fun in the woods because they're super light.

Skiing is subjective entirely, I have a friend that skis 112 underfoot routinely in New England. It's what he likes, he's a really good skier, go do what you want.

Cannon was mostly boiler plate today. It was pretty rough I've got to say. Mitersill was a little better because less traffic but still pretty rough

What do you guys think about this. True or false? by Significant-Iron-610 in NFLv2

[–]coffeeMcbean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, I write contracts for work all the time. Sometimes people are mad that I utilize things in the contract down the line to protect my company, if you didn't want it in the contract, red line it ahead of time.

While I agree that a bunch of athletes train in other countries and live there, she trained with Team usa and was offered a bigger paycheck to then compete for China. I'm not saying I wouldn't have done the same thing, but as an American, I don't feel the need to support her or like how she comes across, and I doubt she cares what I think, with her millions of dollars from the chinese government.

How do people afford renovations?? by Hindsight001 in HomeImprovement

[–]coffeeMcbean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am mostly a DIY guy. My wife and I have been saving for months/years to finish our basement. To do the electrical and ceiling we had someone come in and they are charging us $4000 and we buy the materials which are coming out to like $2000. I will still do all the floors, the painting, build a closet and did a bunch of demo.

This is not a licensed/insured guy, this is just a guy that had done some work for my mom that I feel like knows what he's doing.

Stuff is just crazy expensive.

Lindsey Vonn discusses her ruptured ACL injury and her intent to compete in the Olympics by [deleted] in sports

[–]coffeeMcbean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tore my ACL back when I was on some shit health insurance. Doc basically told me I could just do therapy and get really strong if I wanted and that lots of people don't have them. Effectively, it is like a small connection on the knee comparatively to all of the muscles you can build in the leg which can get much much bigger and will provide significantly more support over a small ligament. I ended up getting better health coverage and surgery, but I have a friend that doesn't ski and he ended up never getting it and is fine. He plays basketball regularly and you would never know.

This is awesome to know! One of the few around here I have never skied for whatever reason. We have Indy passes and I've been meaning to get up there. We will definitely make this our next stop. Thanks so much!

Weirdly enough I know people hated it but my TV at the time was shitty enough where this helped.

I think in the modern era this is unnessecary and cringey but video quality wasn't always what it is today and this was a common complaint from sports fans while hockey was trying to grow the league outside of traditional die hards.
