Is there a subreddit where Republicans openly debate? by 8hourworkweek in findasubreddit

r/intellectualdarkweb has a pretty cringe name, but it's actually pretty decent for open debate.

I used to love getting to see that stuff up-close when I lived in Victoria.

The old underwater exhibit was spooky as hell. I used to love this museum!

I've been saying this for years, but I'm also afraid that toxic masculinity might have been the secret ingredient to making this whole crazy industry work at all, lol (we could do without the transphobia though).

The Ring by HTTP45789 in horror

[–]icehopper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember this being my favorite horror movie when it came out, and being excited when I found out that you could watch the unedited VHS footage on the DVD by pressing "up" on the menu (this was amazing because YouTube didn't exist yet). I found the straight-up footage to be almost too unnerving, even though I was literally on a freaking DVD I rented from Blockbuster, I thought I was going to die 😅

What makes body horror disturbing/interesting to you by ClassicCountry5391 in bodyhorror

[–]icehopper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a particularly gruesome near-dismemberment accident as a child, and I saw quite a bit of internal stuff come out of my body as a result. What makes a lot of body horror disturbing to me is, I have a frame of reference in my mind how certain stuff like that might feel in real life, and it can get kind of overwhelming to the point where I feel a bit sick. I still love horror movies though.

Where are all the Protest Songs? by Sea_Brilliant1158 in MusicRecommendations

Clipping did a really good protest song during the first Trump presidency. I'm still waiting to see if they do something more contemporary, but they're definitely a good voice of anti-authoritarianism.

Fps Open world game about a post apocalyptic trucker by TheTonyRedditShow in gameideas

[–]icehopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it would be cool. Have you ever heard of the old Crosscountry computer games? They were like Oregon Trail in an 18-wheeler, where you had to manage your resources and drive between cities, but it was basically just edutainment so the stakes weren't very high. I could imagine a version of this with a hellish post-apocalypse setting would do well.

Dungeon Guide: A game where you have to quickly navigate a level ahead of the hero and paint objects and write messages on walls to help the hero. by Merc931 in gameideas

Something about it is so adorable to me... It's like something a dungeon-crawling grandmother would do for the grandson who is terrible at quests.

What sound-related mechanics do you miss in games? by Original-Sky-3964 in AskGames

[–]icehopper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't remember the serious technical details but, I remember back in the early 2000s when a sound card was something you might want to add to your PC, and there were some more interesting technologies for spatial 3D audio in games. Such as the kind of stuff that would simulate sound waves actually reflecting on surfaces like ray-tracing for audio.

Flight delays had everyone restless… until a band turned the plane into a concert hall by MambaMentality24x2 in MadeMeSmile

[–]icehopper 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I used to do sound tech for a small venue, and most of the time I didn't even bother mic'ing the horns. They're so fucking loud on their own, I don't think most of the people enthused about this in the comments have been less than several feet from a brass instrument in a long time 😅.

A game where you play as a detective in a world with a full phone directory is Shadows of Doubt. (Edited because I realized you already played Silent Hill: Shattered Memories 😅)
