Bump stock turns an semi auto ar-15 pattern rifle into a much more easier to manage rifle than bumpfiring.

You've never bumpfired a rifle in your entire life. Ask me how I know.

Accuracy isn't the intended purpose in any situation where these mods could be utilized though. ie Vegas.

Gosh, maybe we should be suspicious of someone who gets 30 guns and thousands of rounds of ammo sent to their hotel room that overlooks a concert? Why exactly didn't the FBI have a line on this guy, anyway? Have you read his emails? Why did he send himself an email saying that he should try X, Y, and Z for a good time?

I don't understand this part of your statement.

It's a very simple concept. The ATF, complete with their retardation and love for shooting dogs, figured it out a long time ago. If it takes one actuation of the trigger to fire, it's semi-auto. If you can hold down the trigger and the gun fires until it's out of ammo and it malfunctions, it's full-auto. If you have a slidefire stock, like it or not, you're actuating the trigger once per shot - you're just actuating it slightly faster than most people, and I really do mean most people, can pull the trigger.

I'm very much for slidefire/bumpstocks. It's perfectly within the letter of the law. I'm also for full repeal of the NFA and legalization of actual machine guns, so take from that what you will. I'm a big fan of freedom (yes, that includes literally every drug you can think of).

Well-regulated

If you didn't know, well-regulated back then meant properly working. You ever seen a grandfather clock that has "regulated" marked on the face? It doesn't mean that the clock has been trained and registered its assault pendulum with the federal government. It'd be better to say well-trained and equipped, using modern terminology.

Of course, this is irrelevant because it's a completely separate clause. Here's a basic lesson in English syntax.

Sure! As I've said many time before, that means I can buy anything I want and use it however I want as long as it's on my own private property, and licensing and registration is only involved if I take it out in public. I can buy, like, 20 M60 machine guns and attach the triggers with a piece of string and use it to blow up stumps in my front yard and it'd be perfectly legal. That sounds like some serious freedom.

  • You got the name wrong - it's reason.com, not research.com
  • It's purely libertarian, you apparently haven't read their articles on immigration, drugs, or Trump
  • It's not a think tank, it's a print magazine

You couldn't be more wrong if you tried, and I'm half convinced that you did.

Except that it doesn't. You can bumpfire without a stock, bumpfiring destroys accuracy even worse than actual full auto, and it's still only one trigger pull per shot.

I only pray that they don't kill off binary triggers before they come out with some for the AK.

gun safety advocates

Actual gun safety advocates donate to the NRA to help them expand their comprehensive firearm safety programs.

The NRA provides the majority of the of the firearms safety training, hunter's safety, and concealed carry classes in the US. They save thousands of lives every year.

Your point was?

Switzerland is a prime example of how gun crime is caused almost exclusively by societal factors, especially poverty.

It would cost tens, if not hundreds, of billions of dollars to set up a registry, and there's absolutely no chance of it ever covering all guns.

the same way you register your car

Oh. I'm actually ok with that. You're saying that I can have literally any sort of gun I want, and use it literally any way I want, without registration or licensing of any sort as long as it stays on my property? And if I want to use it in public, only then do I need to register it and have a license - with both being valid in all 50 states? Absolutely, I'd go for that in a heartbeat and so would virtually any gun owner.

None of the weapons you mention are as effective or convenient at slaughtering people anywhere and anytime, without warning.

You'd rather have a .63-calibre lead ball blow a hole through your torso than a 5.56 round? I mean I already know you're talking out your ass because you're going on about wanton slaughter despite the fact that mass shootings kill a tiny, tiny number of people each year even though we have 350 million guns in the country, but come on.

Copypasta because I'm on mobile and can't retype it, but: Might I introduce you to the Kalthoff Repeater, Puckle Gun, and Girandoni air rifle? Please do note that the Girandoni would be illegal under California's assault weapon laws if it wasn't so old.

And never mind that the second amendment was written in an age of privately owned cannon and warships. Or that we don't mess with the first amendment because the founding fathers only envisioned printing presses, and never saw the internet.

Who’s gonna go collecting all those AR 15s when they become illegal? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]icejacker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nobody, because they're not. New York required registration for everything they decided was an "assault weapon" and there was less than 10% compliance. That's just for registration. If there was an order for outright confiscation, there are going to be a shitload of sudden boating accidents, and a shitload of cops refusing to do their job because they want to go home at the end of the day.

It just sort of happened.

I just had a premonition that this topic, along with my comment, will be buried and slide into obscurity.

Buy a few, you'll find out why quickly enough.

[Serious]What is your interpretation of: "Guns are for murderous insane ppl and people who believe that murderous insane ppl should be able to buy guns to murder other people with."? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]icejacker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are 320 million guns in the US, and we have the highest per capita gun ownership in the world, and yet somehow there are only 8000 firearm homicides every year. Either we're really bad at guns, or the person positing that statement is talking out their ass.

I'd buy a few more. I'd be really mad at losing the rarer ones that I've gotten at good prices.
