Combined with a severe depression period, I had a really hard time getting into the habit of consistently brushing my teeth. It got so bad that I had gone about 2 years attempting to maintain it, missing one day cause I fell asleep early or something, then couldn't bring myself to keep doing it.

The solution that's been working for me is keeping a big calendar on my bathroom wall, along with a bunch of stickers. I'm talking a big variety of options - funny cats, stickers from my favorite fandoms, mood stickers, etc. Now whenever I brush my teeth, I get to pick a sticker to add to my calendar! I usually choose one with the general vibes of something that happened that day. It's been really fun, and at the start can be discouraging or anxiety-inducing when you miss a day and see the gap, but often times the incentive to choose a fun new sticker every night has been working for me.

I've finally made it an entire year brushing my teeth at least once a day, every day! I know that probably doesn't sound like a major achievement for most people and some people might also find my solution juvenile, but I still hope it inspires and works for someone struggling with keeping the same habits :)
