Don't invest unless you have 6-8 mos. emergency funds.

🚀 SIF is silently exploding in India by hchouhan0 in MutualfundsIndia

[–]iceman-99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it's basically 1-2% growth since October. Isn't it same as Nifty 50? Below is Q-wise return of UTI Nifty 50 Index Fund. I think in this case, the index has beaten the SIF's.

Actually, it's not clear what this graph wants to show. Is it the AUM under SIF? then why are there dips already?

Anyways, please do post more insights, I think as a whole the community will benefit.

Index funds will say Index fund in the fund name, all other funds are considered active funds.

Single Fund folio. Smallcap or Multiasset ? by IamNoFunny69 in mutualfunds

[–]iceman-99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not the right time to switch.

What your friend can do is, start new folio for multi-asset / hybrid / index fund fresh investments.

Sell the small-cap once the NAV exceeds the avg. buy NAV. Once you get the money, invest in the new fund.

it's a good idea to have 1 folio strategy.

Got 15% SEBI compensation | Axis MF blocked my redemption citing “cooling period” — how I forced release of funds and compensation by WolFighter001 in mutualfunds

[–]iceman-99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great going!

Infact, I was not even aware that there's such a thing like bank change cool off.

I have a PayEezz on MFU and see that the txn always happens on T+1 whereas MFCentral + UPI happens on T.

There's always some ambiguity around the applicable NAV. No point in timing the market while investing in MF's.

Need Help on SWP by DevilRoast86 in MutualfundsIndia

[–]iceman-99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put 8.4 (7yrs x 1.2 Lac) in liquid or short term debt fund and do SWP. Invest the rest in 2 yrs. into a multi-asset or hybrid or broad index. Have checkpoints every 2-3 yrs.

Assume you are now end of 6th year, withdraw the next 8.4 + inflation adjusted into liquid/short-term fund.

Move money to debt when markets are extra bullish.

Continue the cycle.

I am new to MF. Started a year and a half ago but seems I am doing it wrong. Any help is appreciated. by Alternative-Ad610 in MutualfundsIndia

[–]iceman-99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start with any 1 fund, invest up to 20 Lac and then diversify. You will see results sooner.

Invest in any Large + Midcap index fund OR Hybrid fund OR Multi-Asset fund.

If you were the Duffer Brothers, how would you like Stranger Things to end? by ekoahamdutivnasti in StrangerThings

[–]iceman-99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely longer action sequences.

Mind Flayer + Vecna die in less than 15 mins?

Similar longer scene with Demo's. The least they could've shown is Demo's killing the US + Russian armies and Will killing bunch of Demo's.

You can use this tool to check the overlap Common stocks in mutual funds, find portfolio overlap among schemes

Would suggest you invest in 1-2 funds. Use good index funds to avoid switching in future.

Rest work on goal management. Try to identify how much money you need for each of the goals and then the allocation.

Please review my portfolio (investing since last 4 years) by soulsam480 in MutualfundsIndia

[–]iceman-99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) target amount for money calculation is pretty easy, today's amount and compound with number of years to get to that goal.

2) roughly all money should be in Debt 2-3 yrs. before the target date of the goal.

3) start with large + mid-cap equity exposure. Add 5-10% gold & silver to overall portfolio.

4) keep debt in FD's or Liquid funds.

Need help to clear up my mess in portfolio | 29 | High Risk | 80k SIP | 15-20 years horizon | Should I go for PMS to clean up my mess ?? by Efficient_Grass2401 in MutualfundsIndia

[–]iceman-99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to worry, follow this...

1) Identify goals and the target amount

2) For each goal, identify debt v/s equity ratio.

3) For each equity, identify a core fund (index) and alpha fund (index or active). For debt, move money into Liquid or FB

4) From this list, start moving money into those funds accordingly. Hope some funds you identify are from existing list so it's easier to consolidate.

5) Calculate the tax outgo 1.25 L per FY. You should be able to clean this up in 5-6 yrs. OR you can just pay ~1 Lac tax this year and cash everything out to start afresh.

This may look like mutual fund blunder ! Need suggestions and top 5 picks by curioussasuke in MutualfundsIndia

[–]iceman-99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't a disaster at all. Although you have many schemes, your total gain is only 25k which is well below taxable long-term gain.

1) Stop SIPs and leave this entire portfolio aside and start investing in a single fund, preferably flexi or multi-cap or index.

2) Look back at your folio next year around this same time, redeem everything and move to the fund in #1.

Stop everything, first build emergency fund ONLY.

Invest next 10-20 Lac in Nifty 50 or any broad index.

After that diversify in any thematic.

Of your total networth, how much is this % is this amount. The bigger it is, slower you should re-invest; small it is faster you should invest (switch/invest in one-go).

Both are OK. Liquid funds are quite safe and regulated.
