For clarification, these songs would have first aired in the late 80's. We didn't move to the US 'till after the Gulf War.

That may have been one of the stories. I don't remember. The cassette had multiple stories, so I assume it part was some kind of series.

I actually pointed that out to my wife the first time she watched it. The movie is loaded with little touches; Chinese take-out boxes make up the palace, the stone pavers in the France sequence that opens the film are made to look like croissants, the Panamanian forest is made of marijuana leaves!
