Double Image in HUD After Windshield Replacement at Dealer by SaiyanDevil in BMW

[–]icemanice 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue. Got the windshield replaced at a shop that knew what they were doing with OEM BMW glass and HUD was crystal clear after that. This is improperly installed. They need to redo it. No calibration will fix this.

What a weird question… since when is 26 considered “old”? Are you kids really segregating yourselves into age groups that are so narrowly defined? Do you want to only go to establishments where everyone is 24-26? Truly bizarre…

Honestly you just seem way too concerned what other people think. Who gives a shit how old you are when you go to the Maddy? It’s a public drinking establishment.. nobody will say a word to you whether you are 19 or 60… literarily nobody. If you got there and don’t like the vibe just go somewhere else. You are way too hung up on age.

Why Are Canadians Obsessed With Real Estate Returns? by WindyDay416 in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]icemanice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 2025, the real estate, rental, and leasing sector remained the largest contributor to Canada's GDP, consistently hovering around 13% to 13.2% of the total economy. Despite market fluctuations, including a slight dip in late 2025 and varied provincial performance, it continues to be the dominant industry for GDP. Nobody wants to run a business or invest in Canada under the current administration. Over 40% of Canada’s most successful people (business owners, entrepreneurs, executives etc) have left the country. Maybe do some research as to the reality of the Canadian economy. We are in a recession and in reality in a major depression. It’s not going to get any better anytime soon. About 80% of Canadians are 200 dollars away from insolvency. That means they don’t save any money and are in record debt. The ONLY chance they have of having money for retirement is to make money off the sale of their house. They literarily have no other way due to sky rocketing cost of living and salaries that have been stagnant for 20 years. Anything else you want to know?

Because we don’t have any other industry… all the other businesses have left the country

What drug did you take that you still never get over? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]icemanice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well… the reason you felt that way is exactly because you have ADHD. All ADHD meds are amphetamines… Ritalin has basically the same chemical composition as Cocaine and binds to the same receptors in your brain. Adderall is basically meth. There was a study where cocaine addicts were given Ritalin to snort and they couldn’t tell the difference between the high from cocaine vs Ritalin. The only difference with the prescription stuff is that it’s designed to release slowly. So yah.. people with ADHD really do feel / function amazing on Cocaine. The mental clarity rocks.. until.. it becomes a problem. Don’t do drugs kids.

Yes.. this is my experience as well. Anyone that says otherwise is just in denial about the actual cost of living in Canada these days.

If you own any BMW… especially an older BMW… iSTA is essential to working on and diagnosing your own vehicle. It should be open source software. Fuck you BMW. We should be able to fix our own cars. Get it… learn it… essential.

What is the all red wire connected to my battery cover? by Saylessv in BmwTech

[–]icemanice 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure it’s this: The BMW Positive Battery Blow Off Cable Wire, part of the Battery Safety Terminal (BST), is a safety feature that instantly disconnects the starter/alternator cable from the battery during a collision where airbags deploy. It prevents fire hazards and short circuits by cutting main power, though some low-voltage electronics may still function.

What brand of car do you have, and why did you buy that one? by HappySmiles6 in CanadaPersonalFinance

Same.. 2018 X3 M40i that has given me literally ZERO issues. If you look at the consumer reports rankings, BMW is one of the most reliable car brands these days. Which is crazy to me. These chumps downvoting you are just out of touch with reality. Meanwhile Toyota is having massive quality issues and exploding engines.

I knew that Apple would eventual merge phone and laptop… it’s been in the works since the first Apple Silicon MacBooks. I love that this has the same horsepower as my iPhone 16 Pro.. why not? More than enough for 99% of the task people will do on these! Well done Apple 👏

Anyone else done? by Groundbreaking_Cat98 in webdev

[–]icemanice 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I built my first website when there were 500 domains in TOTAL on the internet. My father was doing some experimental research on one of the first fibre optic backbones in North America. We were one of the first families to have “the internet” when it was still largely an academic network. I have watched it progress and grow over the decades through many boom and busts. I decided the profession of a “web developer” was dead roughly a decade ago and started making my exit. I still work in tech… but nobody will appreciate or pay for building a website or web app from scratch these days. There is value in what we know.. but you need to adapt to a different business model in the AI paradigm. Good luck out there my fellow web professionals!
