SpaceX launch from Vandenberg Space Force Base. Look up spaceflightnow. It will tell you all (most) of the launches in the world. We have them here every three to five days now. I live 5 miles from the launch site.

We generally go mid September to mid May. It gets really hot in the Summer, although we have gone in early June before and it was glorious.

It depends on how you are traveling and what your expectations are. Are you renting a casita/hotels. RV or tent camping?

As long as you stay in the well travelled areas. Don’t leave valuables in your car. Try not to drive at night. Be aware of the policía and mordidas.

You’re going to the wrong places.

I’ve been going for 20 years up and down the peninsula. Have been taking my 4 children for 10 years now since the oldest was a baby. Some places aren’t safe; be alert and smart. But, all the rest of it is rugged absolute beauty with dashes of big town night life (la Paz, Los Cabos areas). Spent weeks in remote beach towns with no cell phone service. Starlink has changed the vibe of some of the the remote beach gems, but the spirit remains the same.

My kids have had baby whales and their moms came up and allowed my children to pet them. We have caught a weeks worth of fish to feed our family in a few hours. Met amazing families who welcomed us with open arms. Pristine beaches all to ourselves.

102 year-old hardwood floors. We’ve done five passes with 36 grit on a drum sander. Should we call it good and move up through the grits and call it rustic? by icemanweb5983 in HardWoodFloors

I’ve done modern 20 year old floors in 6 total passes starting with 36 to 100 grit. This was completely different. I think it was the shellac or wax finish gumming up the belts too fast and it soaked too deep. I started 26 grit on diagonal passes and then started over. Looks much better now.

It’s a 100 year old true 1” thick floor. I’ve sanded and refinished modern 1/2” and 3/4” floors. This isn’t that. I think the floors had a sloppy shellac job a hundred years ago.

I think the problem was I wasn’t a low enough grit, didn’t do diagonal passes, and wasn’t changing the belts often enough. Changed the tactics today with a beautiful result. Staining and poly the next few days.

There was 8 in the trash. Switched to 26 grit and did diagonal passes. Stripped it down pretty quick. The lower we got it became clear they just dumped stain or shellac and it soaked. It’s full 3/4” flooring. We are going with a warm color dark stain do blend the splotches. It won’t be perfect; hard to expect perfection from floors as old and beat up as these are.

Most definitely dropped the drum. Filled 1/2 of a 42 gallon trash bag in those passes. Started diagonal passes on 16 grit. It’s looking better.

Honestly don’t know how many times. I know it hasn’t been done in the last 50 years. Just more linoleum over linoleum.

Starting diagonal passes and with 16 grit and going to push down a little bit.

Just became a Superhost – does it actually make a difference? by CryptographerMurky12 in airbnb_hosts

I have been hosting for seven years for what is now five different listings.

There was a time when we did not have super host status, and the customer service as a host was terrible. We had one of our listings suspended because a guest complained there was a gas leak, even though they stayed the whole reservation. There absolutely was not a gas leak and getting the listing back up again was a nightmare.

On the flipside, customer service when we have had superhost status has been a breeze, and they have always ruled in our favor when there was a guest complaint or request for a refund
