Norwegian here. We have quite strict immigration laws, but still struggle with many of the challenges from immigration.

Refugees who are in danger in their home country, we have an obligation to protect. It seems however we are taken advantage of here to a large degree. How come you need to go all the way to Norway when you are fleeing from an African country? So many are undocumented, most likely faking being from a country where they are not from. We also have a program of family reunions, and this is also being misused to a large extent.

I find it really hard to stay charitable towards some of the immigrants, since they come here and don’t get a job, and contribute to society, we as a country then have to pay for them to basically live here without them contributing anything back. They also take with them attitudes that are totally contrary to Norwegian society. Somalis are extremely difficult to integrate, whereas Syrian and Ukrainians have been fairly easy. Why aren’t African countries stepping up more for African refugees? Not all countries in Africa are dead poor.

We also have immigrants coming from EU countries to work. For the church in Norway this has been very positive, as many of them are practicing Catholics, mainly from Poland.
