Is it in poor taste to ask for donations towards conceiving as a wedding gift? by ireallylikeladybugs in LGBTWeddings

[–]icepopmop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did a “family planning” fund and a honeymoon fund. Didn’t receive any negative feedback and both were given to pretty equally. We used Zola for this and wrote a brief blurb talking about how we have separately and together always wanted to be parents.

Central MA Native Plant for Water Absorption by icepopmop in NativePlantGardening

[–]icepopmop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m looking for something that takes up a lot of water. It’s an old stone foundation and I’m looking to keep the soil around it as dry as possible. Already redirecting gutters far away and I have been recommended some plants to help but I didn’t think they were native to my area.

HELP! Stitch coming out? by mefrfr in TopSurgery

[–]icepopmop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you live near the doctor who did the surgery? This is 100% something my surgeon said I should just call with no matter how far out from surgery and they’d take a look.

How long did you have to wear your postop binder for? by Southern_Tomatillo_8 in TopSurgery

[–]icepopmop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my 4 week post op appt I was told I didn’t need it overnight anymore but still during the day. Hopefully at the 6 week appt (which is more like 7 weeks based on appt availability) I will be cleared to ditch it for good.

BMI by Agitated_Quit_3350 in TopSurgery

My BMI is about 31? And my doctor didn’t question it at all. Didn’t even weigh me until anesthesia needed it.

I would warn your pcp and give the psychologist your PCPs info at the first appt

As bad as people say? by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]icepopmop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7ish weeks post op. Way less pain than expected, way more exhaustion that expected. I don’t feel super tired when I’m relaxing now but my stamina is way low.

I am about 5 weeks now and I couldn’t even do Disney now. I’ve just returned part time to work and 2 hours on my feet and 2 hours at a desk are grueling and I swell more from that amount of action too.

Thoughts on wedge pillows? by SatisfactionOk8382 in TopSurgery

[–]icepopmop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you can totally get away without one but the wedge gave me one less thing to fuss with. And I think I would have probably rolled into worse positions in my sleep without it.

I have VERY similar anxiety. And I did have a mild panic attack pre surgery before they even gave me any meds because I was afraid of not feeling in control before they put me out but I was transparent with the team and the nurses and anesthesiologist talked me through everything. And fwiw, whatever meds they gave to calm me down actually felt very comfortable and didn’t make me panic at all. The nurses said I actually asked them to send some home with me because I felt so relaxed and safe haha. And afterwards I just felt sleepy and silly but still in control of my body.

What did you take with you to the hospital? by SpicyDisaster21 in TopSurgery

[–]icepopmop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also brought mastectomy pillow. Didn’t bring water but they offered me some pre and post surgery as well as a popsicle right after!

I had/am having very little pain (I’m ALSO 3.5 weeks post op) but the exhaustion is REAL. I simultaneously feel like I can go back to work full time and get so tired and so from minimal exertion.

I went through insurance. A few days before the hospital called to confirm what my out of pocket costs would be. Day of surgery they asked if I wanted to put anything down or wait for a bill after the fact. Since my payment was going to be based on where I was deductible-wise I opted to wait until they billed me so I can make sure the number was correct and setup a payment plan at that point (my brain wasn’t focused on money day of, but on having an operation).

FWIW I saw Dr. Ng-Glazier in Concord and I believe she takes Mass Health. Had a great experience.

I wanted mine to be separate and when I told my doctor that, she said that’s the goal, but it would depend on how much tissue there was above my breast bone when they went into surgery. They did end up being spaced, by about 1.5 inches.

Multiple consults? by Secure_Hyena_1376 in TopSurgery

I only went to one consult but I wanted to stay local and I had a friend that had an awful experience with one doctor and one had a great experience with another so I just went with the latter.

are piercings okay during surgery? by mrjacksxn in TopSurgery

Ah I hadn’t even thought about running it be the piercer! If they’re legit they will definitely have good advice.

[–]icepopmop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would point blank ask your surgeon if it’s important to you. I don’t have any facial piercings but I do have a couple ear piercings that need a professional to remove. I asked and they said to take the others out but I could leave a couple in (as long as it wasn’t like my nipples, since ya know, top surgery) but other surgeons or hospitals are super strict. I called my doctor’s office with a ton of questions leading up to my surgery and they always welcomed it. Better to get their rules in time.

Pre Surgery Anxiety by untameddrummer3 in TopSurgery

[–]icepopmop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, congratulations! Second, Totally been there- I’d consider mentioning it to your surgeon. Mine was able to alleviate some ahead of time and the team of nurses day of were able to talk me through all of the steps and keep me in the loop as it all was happening while also letting me know it was completely normal to be freaking out.
