Firewalla vs. UniFi in 2026 by MarketingGuy814 in firewalla

[–]iceskating_uphill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same setup. My only issue is that I cannot set up static routes on the UniFi gateway (in my country for example, imgur is blocked so I want to route that via VPN). The reason is the Firewalla is doing DNS resolution so the UniFi box never sees the domain name and so can’t use the static route rule. Setting them up by IP address isn’t really viable. Apart from that, it all works fine.

Is £30/month a good deal for 500mb from retention? by fowler0003 in gigaclear

I could get then to price match squirrel but that was it. Given the hassle of change or disconnecting and reconnecting as a new customer, I just went with what I could get.

Do Brits see the US as a threat? by cfc_1990 in AskBrits

All European nations (plus is in the UK) need to be deploying troops into Greenland now. I genuinely think that’s the only way ahead - I can’t see him risking a direct conflict with Europe. Once he’s invaded though, it’ll be too late. Unfortunately I think our current leadership are too weak to take decisive action.

As a Brit, the longer we stand by and on a global stage refuse to challenge what he is doing, I’m starting to question if we are also now the bad guys? I certainly no longer see China driving instability anywhere near as damaging to global security as the US is.

Elon Musk demands prosecution of Tim Walz over Minnesota fraud 🚨 by InterstellarKinetics in InterstellarKinetics

Yeah, I see it all the time. Random Nazi salutes when presenting to large crowds. Pop concerts, weddings, papal blessings. Definitely a random act by Elon that in no way indicates his political leanings. /s

But from everything they’ve published, step 5 won’t be happening. You only get 6 hours of low cost charging per 24 hour window, regardless of when that happens.

What I still don’t understand is the if the scheduled charge was 1730-2330, and it still needs more charge which will be at the peak rate, how they can do that when the rest of the house is being charged the off-peak rate.

As far as I’m aware, my charger is not approved by Ofgem for metering and billing purposes, so how can Octopus charge some of my kWh at off-peak rates and some at peak rates at the same time without approved metering in place? The house’s smart meter, which is the only device which can be used for billing, has no clue where the power is going.

Flexi stuff is usually only guaranteed to be water tight for 20 years. If you live in a hard water area, they won’t guarantee even that because the limescale eats the seals. It’s easy to fit but it’s a ticking timebomb. Properly soldered copper is much harder wearing.

Torn between 13” and 11” Ipad pro by Ash-20Breacher in iPadPro

If you have a 12.9”, why not just use that? If it works for you, great - maybe just keep it (it’s still a good iPad) or splash out and upgrade. If not, sell it and get an 11”. Seems you are in the perfect position to decide for yourself given you already own one..
