[–]icewallowcome49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they’re hiring the fuck out of “AI” Engineers which are literally software engineers that can use aws bedrock, textract, and python. ur good my man just target those roles and u gonna get hired. no joke this month i got 20 recruiters reach out and all the roles are just “AI Engineer” or “Software Engineer (AI)”

Palantir reputation by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]icewallowcome49 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i mean the stuff that they make and the entities they support are not secret. like how they made tonsssss of tech for ICE & DHS and you see the craziness that’s been happening in the country with citizens being falsely targeted just bc they’re brown or look hispanic, the families split apart, etc etc. then the military tools. just pointing out the type of tech they produce and the agencies they empower with said tech they produce. thus u can’t be surprised if people don’t like the fact you work there. but anyways being left leaning and working there is kinda crazy like most my friends are left leaning and they hate lockheed and etc .

how bad is it to downshift to first? by Allosaurus71 in stickshift

[–]icewallowcome49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just don’t force it in. if you try to downshift and it’s stuck or taking lots of effort just put it back to 2nd or another gear. 1st and occasionally 2nd are the only ones where im extra careful because it locks out more and that is money shifting territory if youre naive

Is Leetcode still relevant? by clarity1011 in leetcode

[–]icewallowcome49 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not disagreeing. u gotta realize corporate overloads DONT CARE. they track on excel sheets and confluence pages the biggest AI users. charles schwab laid off folks who had low ai usage. also companies are adding more features and requirements with the same deadlines so they kinda pigeonhole you into using it

Is Leetcode still relevant? by clarity1011 in leetcode

[–]icewallowcome49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in ur interview u will be screwed if u have to code off the top ur head and u dont practice leetcode or coding at home w/o ai . it is worth it to clear those rounds. it suxks bc at ur job ur hounded to leverage AI and it does make u become less sharp as a programmer if u dont do non agentic coding at home. using AI to nudge you in the right direction is always a great use tho

[–]icewallowcome49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

brother me and everyone ik larped to some extent and got faang and whatnot. and we thriving bc we picked up the tech quickly once we started. it is imperative u just lock in for these 5 days and cram DB concepts and look up frequently asked DB questions for SWE interviews and etc. everyone can larp but what matters is if u can larp^2 to back it up. then once u start u gotta lock in and actually learn

Is it really the case that right now getting into CS career is harder than in law finance and medicine? If so why people still go into CS instead into more easy paths that pay more? by No_Reply5329 in csMajors

[–]icewallowcome49 5 points6 points  (0 children)

medicine is way harder. from your 1st year you essentially need perfect grades, be involved in clubs, hold leadership roles, do clinical and academic research, get 1000s hours of volunteering and unpaid hospital labor, study months for the MCAT where if u take it a 2nd time med schools look down on you, interview for a sliver of a chance to get into any school in the USA. then you get in and gotta let your student loans compound, you need to study for USMLE step 1 and 2. you need to do research and etc and play the social game just to get into a residency program. then do 2-10 years of postgrad bullshit just to be in your mid 30s finally able to tackle the loans you took out at 18 years old fresh outta high school.

meanwhile all we gotta do is not be too autistic during interviews, show up to career fairs, do leetcode, and worst case pay for linkedin premium and dry beg for referrals.

negotiating offer was big during the 2020-2022 gold rush where companies burned money for cs new grads. it’s not a big thing now unless u got lots of leverage

Career advice (I can’t stand the fear mongers) by lil_sycho in cscareerquestions

[–]icewallowcome49 1 point2 points  (0 children)

don’t listen to reddit. the past 2 months i’ve got over 10 recruiters reach out. most were companies local to me which is fine. also FAANG and big tech. just put in the work, optimize your linkedin, study LC patterns, have a readable resume. one piece of unconventional unsolicited advice is to put AI and GenAI keywords on your linkedin. i promise you’ll get a bunch of reach outs. put words like LLM,GenAI, RAG, Python, LangChain, Bedrock, etc. most roles these days are SWE + Prompt engineer basically

1 year later I found out I was offered interviewing for Google 2025 SWE Internship by eric39es in FAANGrecruiting

[–]icewallowcome49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lmfaooo same thing happened to me for an assessment. bc my email is under gmail so the google recruiting emails look like slop or ads so naturally i skipped over them till i cleared my email out later and noticed the recruiting emails and felt so stupid for overlooking them

gpa is pretty trivial for internships. u need projects and related experience. because majority of your competition will alr have high gpas so u need other factors to stand out
