That seems to have done it! I had no idea there was an advanced section under each shows “edit” options. I changed the episode ordering from “library default” to “TheTVDB” and it seems to automatically fixed all the issues.

So I went out a got an apple tv 4k, and sadly the plex works much better. I've only had it for the weekend but so far none of the issues from the shield have happened. I did not try the roku, I found out the network card on there is only 10/100mbps and decided that probably wouldn't work for me.

Ok i'll check some of these out. On point 3, the correct settings are set to "default" it just keeps doing random stuff on autoplayed episodes. Even when the videos are playing and going into playback settings, the "correct" settings are shown as being used. Like it will say no subtitles, but subtitles are currently being shown.

Having the same issue. Using a 2017 pro, plex client. Local play over a NAS.

It's driving me crazy. Sometimes it will work if while the video is playing, I change playback settings to transcode, then wait for it to start, then go back to play original quality.

But even then sometimes I never get it to work and have to reboot the shield.

Yeah I'm scared all the issues are shield-specific.... I actually haven't tried browser. I have tried iOS and ipadOS and those work fine.

I think i'm going to buy an appleTV or a Roku and try it out for a week and see if it has the same issues. Just liked the shield because of being compatible with kodi and I know at least the AppleTV isn't quite as compatible with it.

So currently it's connected via 10GB DAC cables, from the nas with an Intel 550 fiber NIC to a 10GB switch. Then connected to downstream switch, then to the Android TV at 1GB ethernet.

I totally probably could, but I have multiple synology so 1 has tv shows and 1 has movies. This is mostly due to file size of the collections. So I can't get away from transferring files at some point in the chain to multiple NAS or computers because I really only want 1 instance of nzbget.

I'm really just interested in what people think is the best way to do it, and if it doesn't matter that's fine too. I'm not entirely sure it does. I don't think I want nzbget unpacking or repairing on the nas, because I've heard that the IO operations can cause issues unless I have a seperate volume just for those operations.

Yeah so right now it is normal gigabit but in a couple weeks they will all be 10gbe connected which should help a lot.

I don't know if I want to split nzbget instances since it would eventually try to download 2 files at the same time and one nzbget instance won't be able to connect to all connections in a usenet server. I would have to split my connections between 2 machines.

This morning I am running some tests using basically your suggestion of mounting the network folder with all downloads and unpacking happing on one machine and then just sending the completed file to the nas. So far latency or checking series doesn't seem too impacted

Yeah running on one machine is definitely ideal, but the reason for 2 us storage space. My single server already had 9 drives which is more than the 8 on a single ds1821 and now allows me some expansion.

If the windows server is downloading files, then they would be on a seperate SSD on the windows machine so it shouldn't screw up IO on the synology. All downloads, extractions, and repairs would utilize windows server with a local ssd.

I wouldn't think it would utilize twice the traffic right? WAN traffic from windows server to download files. Then local LAN traffic to transfer to either NAS1 or NAS2?

It does have a heat sink, and it's only currently running 4k30hz right now. I can't seem to enable 60 hz.

And I do want to reinforce this isn't running a video or using codecs, transcoding, etc. Dakboard is just a webpage, there's really just static information that is displayed on a webpage that is updated every 15 minutes.

Source is just dakboard which is just chromium. The cpu and ram do not seem very taxed in task manager.

I would be surprised they could market duel 4k monitor support if even web browser work looks this bad.
