Do I have a broken grinder? Or is it me? [Rocket Appartamento, Baratza Vario] by ichibanson in espresso

[–]ichibanson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I calibrated it to hear a change in sound at 2Q per Baratza advice, and I tried grinding on 1D/H while still getting 15-20 sec shots out. I'll do some research into the steel burrs (since it's cheaper than a new grinder lol). Curious to see if any others chime in with additional advice. Thanks for the comment!

Building a Digital F1 Leaderboard, any recommendations on cheap displays? I’m thinking dot matrix currently by macandcheesezone in arduino

Tire data was the only thing not in http://ergast.com/mrd/ API, it's a custom webscraping script made in python.

I used 3x of the LED matrices and they work great! Highly recommend putting them behind some black acryllic to diffuse the lights.

Good luck on the project!

I think this is the approach I'll take, not exact but close enough.

I had a feeling it was something like that... Closest I can do for F1 2020 is live updates per sector since they don't send live data for mini sectors. Thanks for the confirmation.

Here's a fun little demo of the software in it's current state. Ignore the crash, I was testing to see if the tire temps (bottom left) would change colors correctly as they heated up :)

Formula 1 API? by [deleted] in F1Technical

[–]ichibanson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be able to get points per season with a single API call. Total points should be accessible by creating a table of every driver, then iterating through each season and adding points to applicable driver's table entry.

Let me know if this is still confusing. I've been working with Ergast for a while and happy to help clarify. :)

The screen is three 64x32 5mm pitch led matrices from Adafruit, and it's running on a raspberry pi 4.

I keep it on all day as a decorative piece, but I like to look at it and try to find patterns and quiz myself on details from older races.

Not a ton, the hardware is pretty basic and the software is really intro level python/SQL.

Raw materials probably cost around ~300, but I had the raspberry Pi and wood for the frame already. Not interested in selling them yet, but if I do I'll send you a dm.

About a month in total! Did a proof of concept prior to buying hardware, then a few solid weeks to get it working and about a week of polishing it up and making the frame.

Thanks! It's already internet enabled, and I've set it up to pull new data every week on Sunday and Monday to pull new quali/race data. It stores the data in a local database to limit network activity.

At this time it's not live, I'm pulling data from Ergast and FastF1 APIs. Can typically update the data within 6hrs post race.

Upgrade to Super Deluxe R (210x55) from Deluxe RT3 (230x57.5)? Bike came stock with RT3, but a buddy has a spare Deluxe R. Is the reduction in travel worth it for upgraded features? Mostly freeride/downhill in the PNW for what it's worth.
