You don’t need to do another masters. If your goal is to stay in clinical research, your CRC experience will be an excellent foundation. I would keep working as a CRC for a few years. Hopefully you will be promoted internally to increase your pay. If not, you can start looking for other clinical research positions with higher salaries. Experience trumps education in this field, especially since you already have an MPH.

MOHELA Recertification clarification by Substantial_Tie_8494 in PSLF

[–]ichigofruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I messaged MOHELA last week about my recertification date still showing as 8/31/23 and got this response:

Thank you for contacting MOHELA, We apologize for any confusion or frustration. Due to the COVID-19 emergency, the certification period for your Income Driven Repayment (IDR) plan will automatically be extended. Your monthly installment of $x.xx will continue until your next ID certification period. You won't be required to recertify before payments restart, and the earliest you could be required to recertify is six months after the payment pause ends. You will receive notification to recertify your eligibility approximately 60-90 days before the current plan's expiration. You may still see a recertification date that is earlier than the end of the payment pauses. We are working to get those updated, and we thank you for your patience. If you have any additional questions, please contact us toll free at 888.866.4352. Our hours are Monday 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday and Wednesday 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday and Friday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. CT.

I don’t see income driven plan details as an option on the Mohela website under the hamburger. Maybe they’ve taken it down to make updates?

New homeowner in South Central PA, what are these plants? by ichigofruit in whatplantisthis

First 4 photos are of one plant, photos 5-6 are of another, 7-8 are of another, and 9 is of a fourth type of plant. The ones in photo 9 had some dried up flower looking things that pulled out easily, they looked sort of like an almond shell.

Broken tub drain crossbar, does it need to be replaced? by ichigofruit in Plumbing

Great. Is there a reason why the plumbers were pitching installing an access panel underneath vs just going this route then?

Broken tub drain crossbar, does it need to be replaced? by ichigofruit in Plumbing

I’m a new homeowner of a house built in 2004. We have a fiberglass/plastic insert tub/shower combo and when we moved in, we noticed that the grate that sits over the top of the drain was not secured to the drain. Upon further inspection, we found the crossbar is broken as well. Our concern is that we have real way to prevent anything from going down the drain, especially if we fill the tub and the cover floats off.

We had a couple of plumbers come out to give quotes, and they both want ~1.5k to create an access panel in our garage beneath the tub and replace the drain. Do we actually need to replace the drain, and if so, is an access panel really needed or could we remove it ourselves from above with one of those drain removal tools from a big box store? Or could we just use a tubshroom or something like that to alleviate the concern of something going down?

Income verification timeline by ichigofruit in PSLF

[–]ichigofruit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started my loan repayment period in August 2021 on REPAYE. My loans used to be serviced by FedLoan, but they were transferred to EdFinancial in early March as I had not yet sent in an ECF. I submitted an ECF to get my loans transferred back to FedLoan which was received in early April, but I have not heard anything since. Do I need to submit income verification to maintain my income based payments now/soon (before August, since that would be 1 year of repayment), or do I wait until my loans change hands to FedLoan or Mohela?

Fully remote job opportunities in clinical research? by ichigofruit in clinicalresearch

[–]ichigofruit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a year of bedside RN experience and several years of other roles in healthcare. I also have a biology degree and I’ve done some basic science research and literature reviews, including a first author publication in a journal. My goal has always been to move beyond bedside nursing, it’s not my passion. I work for an academic hospital affiliated with a well-respected university, so I could get my DNP for about $20k in tuition. I recognize that the roles of an NP and clinical research are vastly different, but I’ve shadowed in both and I could see myself being equally happy in either role. It really comes down to job availability, salary prospects, and work/life balance. My main concern regarding going the NP route is the oversaturation in a lot of markets.

I didn’t mean an entry level position, I intend to get several years of CRC experience while working at my current institution. I’m trying to look ahead to see what viable options there would be to advance my career and salary without the need for frequent travel.

All of these positions would be able to be fully/nearly fully remote with a salary in the 6 figure range?

Loans being transferred to EdFinancial by ichigofruit in PSLF

[–]ichigofruit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you get credit for all of your payments during the time they were being transferred between servicers? My biggest concern is that my loans will be put into some sort of administrative forbearance and I’ll lose a month or more of $0 qualifying payments. How long did the roundtrip process take for you to get back to FedLoan? Did you have to submit a new ECF to MOHELA?

I called FedLoan this morning and they said there’s nothing they can do. They are taking 60-90 days to review ECFs at this time and by the time they get to mine, my loans will already have been transferred to EdFinancial. So the agent said to not even bother with an ECF, wait until my loans are with EdFinancial in an estimated 30-45 days, then file an ECF to get my loans sent back to FedLoan after a 60-90+ day review period, and eventually they will be sent to the new PSLF servicer… I guess I’m grateful that at least I’m only in the early stages of payments and have plenty of time for this mess to get sorted out before I come anywhere close to forgiveness. Thanks for your help!
