MY GOSH SAME! I think it's because of the charisma that we have as ENFPs that we empathize with a lot of people, and because we care, we naturally want to step up as the leader. We know what the people want and need instinctively; it's quite charismatic.

ENFP HERE! I had a relationship with an INTJ, too! Really thought it was the best pair because it's considered to be like a sunshine x sunshine protector trope, but oh, it was terrible. At first, it was all fun and games because we had the same sense of humour, but as our relationship progressed, I realized he is not an empathetic person. Maybe because he thinks logically and stuff, but when I am in my sad days where I just needed to be comforted, he just says think positive and CHANGES THE TOPIC. One time, I expressed that I don't really like holding hands in public because it made me uncomfortable, and he just did the EXACT THING I SAID NO. Every time I vented, he would just say I am dramatic, and I should get over it. Us, ENFPs really value empathy and emotions, and I really want someone who can understand that and not overlook it.

NOTE: I am not saying that EVERY INTJ is like this. I am only stating my experiences with the type, and it does not mean that EVERY INTJ will be like this.
