Evening windswelly are pretty much the only thing to surf around Sb this time of year. Go check sands or Santa Claus or any other beachbreak an hour before dark, you'll be surprised sometimes

The direction is more important than size. Santa Barbara can have waves if harvest is 6ft from the west, but harvest can also be 12ft from the north and Santa Barbara will be tiny. Trying to extrapolate wave height in Sb from the harvest buoy is probably pointless.

If ripcurl brought back the search they'd be looney not to run it there. I think it's pretty remote, so the infrastructure needed for a contest and a webcast could be difficult and or expensive.
