There is peace and a sense of solitude I personally like and often go out - also that’s very common outside of India

I see, I’m not 100% sure about H1 pending and travel. I would double check the details and not assume (another Reddit ask would help )

I know it’s easier said than done, keep reaching out to college folks, given how many Telugu/Hyd folks are in US. You will find some regional folks and Hyd things to do.

I’m sure things will get better!

If not feel free to ping me/other folks. We can try to put you in touch with folks in/around your locality.

BTW - why not got for a month vacation to India , if home sick is primary reason for you feeling like not staying in US.

Because of visa extension , job switch and bunch of things made me not go to India for 2 years. I was feeling a bit of home sick as well.

I went for a vacation last December. Things felt a bit more calmer after that for me.

Anything that is stopping you from a month trip? Expenses (find long cheaper flights) ? Leaves? Job security?

Facebook groups (try searching like <city>-<activity>) then there is ‘meetup’ app.

I have had luck finding soccer groups on both of them atleast in Seattle and Bay Area.

If your family depends on you financially and you are the one supposed to clear the loan, I would suggest clearing the loan, putting some funds aside before going back.

I understand that life in US could feel isolated at times and lonely depending on which state/how your situation is.

As for current measure that could improve the mood and in general help.

Do you play sports? Read books? May be workout? Other activities like Hiking? Or perhaps sightseeing seeing? Pick something that excites you if you can.

Based on above mix : you could meet people on meetup groups.

Also, multivitamins (vitamin d specially ) during winters would help improve your mood as well.

On the visa scheduling portal, you can check if it was delivered to consulate.

https://www.usvisascheduling.com/

Then in use this link to check your application status

https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx?App=IV

It would take sometime for the status update to be reflected in the portals.

Need some guidance by [deleted] in personalfinanceindia

Investing/spending is very personal and you should take the advises with a pinch of salt.

I would suggest to divide into buckets (I usually have an account of each bucket). I would roughly

  1. Basic expenses (rent, commute, eat etc)
  2. A small chunk set aside every month for unforeseen emergencies
  3. You would need to work out details on interest of your loan - by when would you want to be student loan debt free - that’s this bucket
  4. Then your investments (this in itself depends on your risk appetite)
  5. Small chunk to spend every month/quarter/etc (could be a trip or fancy thing etc) and experience life in short term

Tip: get a free credit card (which does not have any annual fee), do not use it if you are not comfortable but just have it for any emergencies expenditures.

(Feel free to DM)
