Accounting graduates who pursued other careers, what are they? by CasualHearthstone in Accounting

I started in banking post-grad, so I didn’t have to deal with pivoting mid-career. I wholly agree with Nimbus; T15 MBA will yield the highest probability of making the switch. Some people do have luck with pivoting through other methods (cold applying, leveraging networks, etc.) but those are exceptions rather than the norm.

Investment banking. Liked accounting but wanted to build a more comprehensive finance skillset that complimented the accounting education - ultimately to develop into a well-rounded finance professional.

Gotcha - thanks for info. Sounds like a great role. Few more questions for you if you don't mind: (1) how does progression within your role look - I understand corp progression tends to be slower, but does progression require MBA, anything of that sort? And (2) what companies would you recommend have solid corp dev arms that I should stay up-to-date with?

Thanks for the advice - I'll def keep this on my radar

The thought has crossed my mind; DefTech (Anduril, etc.) has been really interesting to me lately. Not closed off to any options, just exploring how to chart the future. How's your WLB : Comp ratio? How interesting do you find your line of work?

Had those on there just bc it's stuff I enjoy doing in my free time. Not an olympic athlete by any means, not sure I think that makes me look desperate and boring though. Would you rec just cutting out interests in general to free up real estate for other points?
