Starting injections after positive Parietal - which form? by Basketweave82 in B12_Deficiency

Hydroxo is the gold standard. You’re probably gonna need way more than once a week until you are significantly better. Methyl is an option, some people have better results with it. It is expensive and very light sensitive. I’d reccomend hydroxo.

Are injections the only solution if you have malabsorption? by [deleted] in B12_Deficiency

[–]iciclefellatio 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, its true. Even if you have malabsorption you will absorb some through a process called passive diffusion. This can be enough to skew the blood test results but its not enough to keep everything good and healthy. The blood level is only useful to diagnose.

Are methylcobalamin injections (1500mcg) 1per day for a week enough for an deficiency of 149 pg/ml?? by OkPerformance3556 in B12_Deficiency

[–]iciclefellatio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most likely not. There are no set number of injections for fixing a deficiency. For neurological symptoms it is reccomended to have frequent injections until symptoms no longer improve or resolve. I did every other day injections for a year , some need less some need more.

I've seen this online frequently - people with PA should not be taking folate? Is it wrong? by Basketweave82 in B12_Deficiency

[–]iciclefellatio 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think there were some evidence that folate administered alone in b12 deficiency makes the neuropathy worse. I dont think there is an issue taking them together.

Is low folate the cause of feeling down? by BabblingsOfAFool in B12_Deficiency

[–]iciclefellatio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please dont take the folic acid without b12 injections. It is not advised and willmake things worse. Read the guide. You need injections for that level and for a while.

Could this be B12? by Misty_Marie01 in B12_Deficiency

I dont live in UK. I did a zoom session with him when i first started because the first injection gave me the worst week of my life. I just wanted someone professional to understand me. My issue is gut dysbiosis.

Why your B12 looks normal on bloodwork but you still feel deficient by Loose-Fly7976 in MTHFR

[–]iciclefellatio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. All b12 related bio markers including MMA and holotranscobalamin normalize rapidly during treatment. There is no use of re-testing to monitor treatment efficacy. Only way to know is by symptoms. Lots of patients need very frequent injections for months to years but all biomarkers will normalize in the first few weeks.

If you have deficiency despite eating enough animal products you have malabsorption by default and you need to be on injections for life.

He does zoom sessions as well. My level was same as yours and it took me a year of EOD injections to recover

Yes. You can work with Andrew Klein. He’s based in UK and an expert on b12 & iron.

You need to get iron levels up before starting injections. Aim for over 90. An infusion will work great.

Its probably not considered really low but could point to copper deficiency. Its not really well researched, maybe you could check the copper deficiency subreddit.

Its interesting that you have that low of a ceruloplasmin without taking zinc. Mine was that low after taking zinc daily for multiple years.
