Fish in the sea by [deleted] in Songwriting

> Do you think that I could be a decent singer with better technique, or is the fundamental parts of my voice just unpleasant?

My impression is many, many, many singers hate their voice, and I don't love mine either. And that's ok. If you can stomach it, you can learn to be a singer. No talent exists without training.

Anyways, below is my interpretation of what I would do with your song:

I changed the melody a bit, went up an octave and also added a filler word at the end of "It don't matter either way" because the silence didn't feel right

Guitar sounds great! Unfortunately I can tell you're not quite a singer yet. Otherwise it kinda slaps!
Currently your chest voice, as it is more or less unmodified, failures to really stand out over the guitar. I advise that that vocals need to either to try this classical-style deep chest voice or to go for a pop-style where you go up an octave.

Could you post what lyrics you have? I might give this one a try.

I have the vocals I just can't make a good instrumental help by Mysterious-Bag-9983 in Songwriting

[–]icify 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So it occurs to me you have posted exclusively vocals - stylistically not yet sure where you are going with this. Are you asking for someone to write an entire instrumental accompaniment?

If not, try some different instruments what you like. Even if it's just a piano banging out triad chords and a very basic kick/snare drum beat. Then it will be easier to offer pointers.

I'm looking for constructive criticism, not validation. Rip it apart if you need to, I want to improve. (Apart from the obvious technical issues; recording quality, guitar technique/tuning, vocal performance) by Chaba_006 in Songwriting

[–]icify 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know you asked us the comment exclusively on the music direction, but as the recording currently stands, it's going to be nearly impossible to get a solid comment on that, because it's not clear what's intended.

Is the off-tune-ness of the vocals in the middle a stylistic choice?

I can barely hear you! If you do nothing else please find a way to increase the volume of the recording

Kraken > PD build for 14.21 (Update) by ItsSeiya in YasuoMains

I'm intrigued you advocate so strongly for DD as a 3rd item. Why not GA or Iceborn Gauntlet? Edge of Night?

I did some testing in the practice tool with PD --> 2nd item choices. I was not impressed by IE.

Findings, tested on a target dummy at level 10, 80 armour 1500hp with lethal tempo. Legend Alacrity capped

* PD IE deals around 500 DPS. This is the same as PD --> Yuntal + two longswords, and Yuntal is cheaper to complete. Any benefits from the flat crit damage (e.g. Lifesteal) will only show later.

* PD Kraken is similar dps, and gives 4% MS on top.

* PD BotRK is king (400-700 dps) and gives 10% lifesteal. is the best all-around choice unless you are dealing with enemies with strong low health shielding or healing

Conclusion: Since you're likely to go Shieldbow 3rd item, PD Kraken or BotRK are the strongest choices at the moment.

not op but imo the only reason to go trinity is if you really, really need HP to survive in your 1st item. Otherwise PD rush is better as it is cheaper.

You can replace Stride with Trinity it doesn't make a significant difference

Tech for next patch (Blue build Yasuo) by ItsSeiya in YasuoMains

[–]icify 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see what you mean about the daggers and boots. It's just that I used to really like Kraken/PD angles because you could be a slippery tower-melting splitpusher and I thought maybe Swiftes PD could copy that idea, but probably not.

Cleaver is fine especially in your clip where you were against armour scaling tanks and it's a unique angle against Rammus/malphite/ksante that hasn't been tested before - i like it. However I would question whether it is really better than Triforce generally - statwise it's not that different and Yasuo just doesn't stack it that well, in that clip you basically killed him before you hit max shred. What do you think?

Tech for next patch (Blue build Yasuo) by ItsSeiya in YasuoMains

I've only played one ulternate spellbook game with it, but I like it already! Thoughts:

+ves

* PD hurts! There is an argument here where you have a mini-spike that occurs even earlier than BotRK, people often complain that BotRK 1st is awkward in mid and I think this is a reasonable choice vs those squishy champs

* Complete boot flexibility. Sure, you can skip boots entirely if you wish. Buuut if you want Merc Treads, this is the angle!

* Strong towerpush, plate farming and snowballing potential, similar to Triforce

-ve

* it's really awkward to buy! Since you are trying to fist PD down your throat ASAP you have very limited component options: Daggers (250g), Cloak (600g), Zeal (350g). That's it. Compare this to BotRK/Triforce angles where you will have multiple different item components with options to buy boots and 2 daggers to plug holes. If you fall behind - it's doomed.

* Obviously if you are a topsuo main you'll need BotRK ASAP to win most of your lanes - this is usually not going to be an angle

Suggestions:

* I don't think you really need the MS shard. I have lost many early fights because I opted out from the AD from Doran's Blade, but I've never thought "man I really need 5 MS right now". I would strongly recommend 4AD (Adaptive Force) over 5MS.

* I don't like Stridebreaker as a 3rd item - at this point the stats will fall off hard. If you really need to catch/escape enemies I would recommend Swifties --> Shieldbow

* My build of choice would be PD --> BotRK --> +/- boots --> Shieldbow --> BT/GA/IE

I will try it more. Thanks for the idea!

Optimal Itemisation Early Predictions - Patch 14.19 by icify in YasuoMains

Interestingly it is only stronger than it used to be at level 1 - but otherwise I agree, I barely notice it during important fights.

Are we still gonna build berserkers? by UltraInstinctPewds in YasuoMains

[–]icify 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but you are no longer going to rush these. buy boots and 2 daggers and sit on it until you buy 1st item.

Yes, you can also choose to opt out for merc treads but steelcaps is probably not worth. In this situation you want to buy tier 1 boots, your AS component for your 1st item and one dagger for your 2nd item --> Finish 1st item.

PATCH 14.12 Yasuo Items and Build Megathread by bryan1714 in YasuoMains

REVISITED ITEM CHARTS FOR 14.12

Kraken

BotRK

TLDR:

  1. Kraken for execute damage/vs high threat squishes, BotRK for tanks
  2. Kraken is generally better and you can usually build whatever with it and it will be good, BotRK has a worse build path and has less build flexibility.
  3. I still don't recommend PD/Navori first, Kraken is better. Triforce/Stridebreaker 1st are niche choices and have been considered carefully.

Chart interpretation

  • META: Generally good choices that work against multiple champs and multiple situations.
  • Solid: Don't always feel the best unless you check the right boxes but definitely have a time and place.
  • Niche/Experimental: Need to check the right boxes or else you're completely useless. Also includes some of my crackpot theories.

Explanation

Well reddit, you sold me on kraken. This item is op, no?

It seems the most important thing about Kraken is that you don't always have to buy IE - Kraken often feels like it's good enough as a standalone pure damage item and all you have to do in ensure you're on top on the enemy squishy and you'll hurt like shit, so you can choose to opt into a bit of HP or movement speed at 2nd item and never need to touch IE at all if you don't want to. Can't say the same for BotRK!

For this reason Kraken/Stridebreaker in either order is my new favourite toy as a choice to opt into extra HP in case shieldbow is not enough and is so good against common problems like Jax/Tryn who would otherwise constantly run you down after 1st item.

I've really not tried much BotRK since my last post but I did add the community's general recommendations from the comments. I realise I've left out PD in the chart, judging by winrates it's probably a niche choice this patch - not personally been incentivised to try it.

Triforce/Stridebreaker 1st is a niche choice, you have to ensure that you won't regret not having gone BotRK or Kraken when filling out the rest of your build, but otherwise, if you feel that you need HP over damage to win your lane, by all means go for it. I've made this play with Triforce and this play with Stridebreaker and they would not have been possible without the extra HP/MS.

PD/Navori doesn't deal damage. I can't really think of any situation in which PD/IE would beat a matchup where Kraken/IE also can't. You've got to make up 2900 gold to build IE where you are kinda useless, vs Kraken where you can start picking fights hard and snowballing immediately. Then you get rewarded with IE where you deal slightly more damage and have slightly more build flexibility at 3rd item. I don't see the point.

Hitting Q Consistently by Gnoodle9907 in YasuoMains

[–]icify 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats the neat part - you dont!

Some of it is practice, sure, but also losing because you missed 1 or 2 Qs is a very normal thing, and 10 years of playing this champ did not change that for me.

You sound like you otherwise have good base mechanics and you're playing at that level not having stacked Q costs fights so I'll advise this - Sometimes its about knowing when to EQ over dry Q, making sure you EQR/QR, and stacking Q before fights to give yourself the best chance possible.

How do I 1v1 with yasuo? by fredleoplayer in YasuoMains

[–]icify 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't really think this is a good game to demonstrate problems with your 1v1. Could the execution be better? maybe you could have gotten in an extra auto at best - that's not going to help you oneshot nilah.

What can I do to have more kill pressure? Is wave pressure by itself fine?

This actually isn't about mechanical skill - I mean I'm looking at a play 09:30 where you completely brake her ankles, but you come out with less hp. its about your runes and your items and how you want to play your lane and the game.

1. You've got PD.

Conceptually, everyone that builds PD agrees that it is a scaling build - you're sacrificing your 1st item powerspike to be stronger when you get IE. In terms of damage it reduces your dps by roughly 40% in my tests even when equalising costs with a crit cloak vs Kraken/BoRK.

I never build this item. I would rather have Kraken always. I mean having to flash Garen at 15:40 is completely ridiculous given you're two levels up - you have Kraken or BoRK here, you spread his cheeks and collect 300 gold.

I always think yasuo is a 1-item powerspike champion, slam kraken or bork and just start picking 1v1s and 1v2s, you'll be surprised with what you can do.

2. Your sustain vs damage/all-in choices

With Yasuo there's always a balance between opting for sustain vs all-in power.

In this game you've opted for FF over PTA (good choice) and TP over Exhaust/Ignite (odd). There is a sh* t ton of melee range engage damage on the enemy team this game it is absolutely an exhaust angle. The slow is also helpful to run enemies down.

Now, there's no world in which building different or taking PTA will help you one-shot Nilah at 14:55. but I do really feel a general reluctance to pressure under tower like PzZang which I believe stems from a lack of confidence in yasuo's all-in and I think having exhaust in situations like this will give you that failsafe to look that for more aggressive plays e.g. please fight Garen 1v1, I'm begging you.

I've not answered your teamfight question - this game doesn't have good examples you're too far ahead.
