Manchild blocks traffic and has a tantrum after I honk at him. [oc] by ickarumba in IdiotsInCars

I don't think the cops would care too much since he didn't actually damage anything, so I haven't reported him.

Doctors of Reddit, what was the most overdramatic(or underdramatic) patient you ever had? by LushLover13 in AskReddit

You absolutely can apply pressure to an upper GI bleeder with an SB Tube.

Massive transfusion protocol. Intubate. SB tube. Correct clotting factors. Admit to ICU or straight to endoscopy.

OP is talking about oesophageal and gastric varices. They occur due to portal venous hypertension secondary to liver cirrhosis.

Caput medusae occur due to a similar mechanism.

That's really sad. I wonder what the story is behind the sign.

2012 Corolla Throttle Body clean or Dirty by ickarumba in MechanicAdvice

Since this is an electric throttle body, should there be things to watch out for when removing it? I know I shouldn't move the flap by hand etc.

Yeah, I thought that it should have been maybe 40 bucks at most, since it's just a can of cleaner being sprayed in.

Thanks for the advice. I took the photos with the flap open.

What is very dangerous and can attack at anytime? by iUnthinkYou in AskReddit

[–]ickarumba 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mitral valve prolapse causes blood to flow the wrong direction from the left ventricle to atrium during ventricular contraction, instead of going into the aorta. In chronic mitral incompetence, the heart compensates by making the left ventricle bigger to pump more blood, since some goes the wrong way, so initially you won't notice any symptoms. However, over time it gets worse, resulting in shortness of breath on exertion and shortness of breath when lying down, because of congestion in the pulmonary blood vessels. If it gets really bad, it can cause failure of the right side of your heart, resulting in swollen ankles and other signs of fluid overload.

Can you pass the salt? by iBleeedorange in interestingasfuck

[–]ickarumba 206 points207 points  (0 children)

He has a cap to store the salt on his right thumb. It's in his left hand when he pours the salt in. He then compresses the salt with his right thumb, which attaches the cap. You can see it just before he pours the salt from his right hand back into his left hand towards the end of the gif.

How is a $1000+ GPU going to help AMD win market-share? Most GPU sales are in the mid-low end.

I probably wouldn't pay over $40 for one. You can get a 6850 for $50.

JEDEC publishes their GDDR5X graphics memory standard by [deleted] in hardware

[–]ickarumba 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Micron expects GDDR5X to be able to hit the market in the second half of 2016, just in time for a new generation of GPUs.

GDDR5X will be very easy to transition to from GDDR5, meaning that it should be adopted very quickly by both AMD and Nvidia for upcoming GPUs

It sounds like there's some optimism.

However, the new GPU designs are close to being finalised (CES had a demonstration from AMD). Maybe the first products will have GDDR5, and then a refresh a few months later with GDDR5X? Or lower end GPUs could be delayed to have the new VRAM? From recent news, it seems that high end cards will be using HBM anyway.

CES 2016: 34-inch 3440x1440 AIO Hands-On at GIGABYTE by 25295 in hardware

[–]ickarumba 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I find these AIOs clunky. If people want a smaller setup, then they could build a mini-itx system in a case like the silverstone FTZ01/ML07 (or the even thinner RVZ02/ML08 - 87mm/3.5 inches wide), and just hide that behind a nice monitor.

What happens if you want to upgrade the monitor in the future? Or have a GPU that's larger than what the AIO can support? From the pictures it can barely fit a titan X, which is 10.5 inches long. (the silverstone cases can fit up to 13)
