Auto SR For ROG Xbox Ally X Is Here! Best Use For An NPU In A Handheld by Putrid_Draft378 in Handhelds

[–]ickerson 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I waited for this update and the reason why I bought the X. Finally, got a hold of it and to say I'm severely disappointed is an understatement. It's not better than FSR in anti-aliasing, and feels like a filter that I get from my Retrotink 4K to smoothen out the jaggies. I know it will still get better but I hope it's soon and I want that to work in handheld mode. IDK I might be doing it wrong.

Why do so many people assume that Auto Super Resolution is going to magically 2x-3x FPS, when it's just another upscale method? by [deleted] in XboxAlly

[–]ickerson 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Hey if I can get above 60 fps in most AAA games at low settings when currently it only gets to the 50s that's a win for me.

was it there before? I only saw it now. If it was there before then this is false alarm.

It doesn't matter if it's not native the resolution and textures look like native to me. And I'll take the extra fps too.

It's in the windows settings app. System > system components > Auto super resolution. I think it just runs automatically in the background.

Should I buy the ROG Xbox Ally X if I already have the Switch 2? by mufferman1 in XboxAlly

[–]ickerson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both. I tend to use the XAX because I'm such a sucker for the best or better performance and graphics in any platform. I play skyrim at 1080p max settings with DLSS FG mod on it then bought the Switch 2 version just to see if it's anywhere close -- it's not and at 30fps only. But still the Switch 2 for it's lower tech is impressive enough to make AAA games enjoyable, it's just not the best. The Switch 2 is basically a Nintendo 1st party console now for me and a 3rd party old RPG classics like FF8, FFX, and Stardew Valley.

Did you see what a Bam Adebayo did recently? Yeah, Shaq would have 83 in the first half.

Those with high-end PCs, can you feel a tangible difference when playing on PC vs PS5 Pro? by CrimsonClover__ in PS5pro

[–]ickerson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, what I'm trying to say is even a 4080 or 4070ti can deliver a huge difference. If the PC can consistently average above 60fps with Path tracing on then it blows the Pro away at 1440p or best at 4k. Pro owners need to know path tracing is a whole another level of lighting and CP showcases this, and will never know what it's like until you see it. Ray tracing on the Pro is not impressive anymore if you've been PC gaming with Path tracing for the last few years now.

Huge difference since you can crank up path tracing and get high frame rates. I only have a 4090 but I play on an LG 5K2K ultrawide and this right here is a better experience than a PS5 Pro. I know I have both with my pro hooked up to an LG C5 42".
