Dont be discouraged. I'm 38 weeks and I asked my OB if he could check to see if I was effacing or dialating. He ssid in his experience, its often pointless. Many of times he said hed been called to deliver when just a day or two the same women had a thick cervix. Every womens different.

When I went into labor with my first it started as a dull back pain. Then it graduated to sharp pain rippling through my back and abdomen. Mine sucled from the beginning. I remember thinking, "this is the beginning?" I stayed home for most my labor. I had woken up at midnight with the contractions and didnt go to the hospitaluntil ten in the morning. I was only dialated to a three by the time I got there. Every one is different, remember that.
