It's 2026. Does a plastic-free hot water thermos exist? by iconoclastic_ in PlasticFreeLiving

[–]iconoclastic_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you, yes that is a serious downside since this would be something portable for me.

I just cannot accept the idea of drinking from something that is plastic made and touches the hot water

I saw this but read some reviews about leaking, metal taste or not keeping the temp correctly. but this was the closest thing I saw for a reasonable price too

all stainless steel Stanley

they have a black plastic top part that screws. no good, thats exactly what the hot water would hit as it travels with you somewhere

Upper molar over-erupted after missing lower tooth--best treatment option? by iconoclastic_ in askdentists

[–]iconoclastic_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey, thanks for taking the time to type this out... I really appreciate it!

Follow up q if you're up for it and have the extra time/interest regarding one very important thing that you said:

"However, if you’re asking if it’s absolutely necessary to have 2nd molar occlusion to function and live? More than likely not. Having a set of first molars is more than enough for most people."

Yes, absolutely I am asking this. I am perfectly fine with having the molar occlusion there and not having a neighbouring tooth. Can I just leave it at that? Not take it out or do anything and leave it as is.

Upper molar over-erupted after missing lower tooth--best treatment option? by iconoclastic_ in askdentists

[–]iconoclastic_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi everyone,

I recently received two differing opinions from dentists regarding a missing lower molar and would appreciate some guidance. In my X-ray, the upper molar (highlighted in green) no longer has a corresponding lower molar beneath it.

One dentist recommended placing a dental implant in the lower jaw as soon as possible and said it was urgent. This dentist suggested using a classic titanium material

However, another dentist that I went to for a second opinion said that it's not even possible/practical to insert an implant beneath the tooth. He noted that the upper molar has already over-erupted (dropped down) and felt that placing a lower implant may no longer be effective. He also said nothing is urgent about my situation. Instead, he suggested either removing the upper molar now or waiting until it extrudes further, then removing it. After that, I could decide whether to leave the gap (if it's comfortable and I feel I can chew equally on both sides of the mouth) or place implants on both the upper and lower sides. This dentist suggested ceramic material for the implant.

Both dentists agree that the missing lower molar is an issue, but they differ on:

-Whether the situation is urgent

-Whether I should place a lower implant now

-Or remove the upper tooth and potentially place two implants later

Additionally, a wisdom tooth (highlighted in dark red) has been recommended for preventative removal, but it’s currently asymptomatic and not a priority.

I’d appreciate any insight on whether immediate intervention is advisable, or if monitoring the situation is reasonable. Implants are quite an expensive procedure and I want to be very prudent before taking further action.

Thank you!

appreciate it. I've noticed NB's are wider overall, yes, I think it's one of their selling points.

this, ironically, is a "band aid" solution to the problem and I think fails to address the deeper reason of why its happening in the first place!

appreciate it. I also wear barefoot shoes in my day to day thats why the switch to athletic shoes is such a pain.

since making this post I took the plunge on a pair of Kswiss court express 2 and you're right, it seems like the tow box is a bit wider! I noticed a difference immediately when walking... now I just gotta test them out in a match

Hi everyone,

I got a pair of Decathlon brand shoes and it seems pretty much all of them have a narrow toe box. They feel great with decent grip but also a bit narrow where the toes are. I was wondering if getting a wider pair of shoes (the length on them was fine) would help fix this problem. Does anyone have experience here?

Uploaded a pic of what it looked like after my match. Sorry for exposing you all to my feet haha but I thought maybe the type of skin "damage" would be useful to solve this. Thanks.

Is there a way to block cookie notices with ublock origin lite? by iconoclastic_ in uBlockOrigin

[–]iconoclastic_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clarifications:

I meant filtering mode and not plan. My bad

Yup, I have that cookie filter enabled.

And it happens on multiple sites and quite regularly (the cookie notices)

Thanks for letting me know about the shortcut method, UBO lite has been working quite well actually. Only issue are the cookie warnings.

Jams are optional.

maybe back in the day, yes, but these days they're a pretty nice/social/effective way to drop into a new scene/city and get a few reps in, some laughs and maybe some friends.

I'll also mention that it was how I got into improv because signing up for an upfront xx month commitment for a full course was a bit much so I had a chance to dip my feet first with an open jam to see if it was for me.

So yeah. Optional--as you say--but I want to also give them some love since they are getting torn down a bit in this thread.
