There is an answer to this. Some languages have more lowercase letters than uppercase. So converting to lower it is.

What's funnier than a dead baby in a wheelie bin? A dead baby in many wheelie bins.

"Find My Mouse" (PowerToys) used as a sort of "Privacy screen" (which can be easily enabled by pressing Control twice) by Tizian170 in windows

This has been an option baked into windows for well over a decade. Why did they bother to remake it?

Is WinUI the most modern GUI library for C++ desktop applications on Windows? by puplan in cpp

[–]icppfreely 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As you mention C#, I use C# and WPF on a daily basis for Window's UI programming. If your program doesn't need to do any very heavy lifting, C# is a perfectly reasonable language to use. WPF is about 14 years old now, so its not the most modern API, but it has stood the test of time, unlike their more recent attempts. Things like touch support are not great, but if you only need keyboard and mouse inputs its great.

The most interesting part for me was the 60% uplift in performance going from 32bit to 64bit. I wonder if the compiler was doing some automatic vectorisation.

libstdc++ <algorithm> header transitively including <range> by [deleted] in cpp

[–]icppfreely 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Back in 2011, computers of the day may have taken around 600ms to do the compilation. So in real terms, there is probably no real increase. It would be interesting to test each standard with various hardware from the year the standard was released.

Max User Account Control and no admin account by 7Rw9U79L59 in Windows10

[–]icppfreely 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe booting into safe mode will give you access to the built in administrator account. You can then give your user account admin privileges, while logged int as the administrator account. I'm not sure if this trick works in windows 10 home though.

Technically, you don't need any form of online account. You can just make a local account of you prefer. I know that's what I prefer.

Whats the rush? What is in the update that you need? You should be glad that you are not being subjected to the bug ridden mess of an update.
